James Gunn and Peter Safran’s January 31, 2023 announcement introduced Chapter One: Gods and Monsters: five films and five television series planned as parts of a connected DC story. That launch list is a starting point, not a current release calendar. Later official updates have added titles and given some projects dates, but do not provide a complete, current status for all ten original projects.
What was in the original DCU announcement?
DC Studios announced the ten-project slate on January 31, 2023, grouping five films and five series under the Chapter One: Gods and Monsters banner. The studio described the projects as interconnected across film and television. The series were announced for HBO Max at the time; that 2023 platform reference should not be taken as a statement of current distribution plans. DC’s original slate announcement and its launch-day interview with Gunn and Safran are the primary sources for the initial list and the studio’s interconnected-story framing.

Which later DCU titles have official updates?
Supergirl
DC’s film page gives the most specific geographic schedule among the cited project pages: theatrical and IMAX release in North America on June 26, 2026, with international release beginning June 24. Since those dates are past as of October 4, 2026, they should be read as the dates DC lists, not as evidence from the cited material that the film has already opened.
The film was announced as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in 2023. Readers interested in the announced adaptation can start with DC’s original announcement. It does not establish a particular comic edition, current stock, or price.

Clayface
DC described Clayface as a horror film set in the DC Universe in its August 11, 2025 studio overview. DC’s movies listing says it arrives in theaters October 23, but the cited listing does not specify a year. Treat that as an incomplete date, not a confirmed future release date.

- Announced in 2023 means a title appeared in the original ten-project slate; it does not by itself confirm continuing development or production.
- Production update is more specific than an announcement, but is not a release date. DC’s 2025 overview reported production had started on Lanterns and that Creature Commandos season two was in pre-production.
- Dated or scheduled still requires attention to the source and its precision. Supergirl has region-specific dates on its official page; Man of Tomorrow appears in a 2027 lineup; Clayface is listed with a month and day but no year in the cited movie listing.
- No later update found here is not proof that a project was cancelled, nor proof that it remains active. The cited official overview supplies selected updates, not a complete project-by-project inventory.
For that reason, the safest current picture is a dated launch slate plus a handful of later, specifically attributed updates—not a definitive list of everything DC Studios is making or when every project will arrive.
