Short answer: the major U.S. Christmas releases of 2024 included The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Red One, Netflix’s Meet Me Next Christmas, Hot Frosty, The Merry Gentlemen, Our Little Secret, and That Christmas, plus Prime Video’s Jack in Time for Christmas. The full holiday season also included Disney+’s animated short An Almost Christmas Story, Netflix’s religious film Mary, international releases, and dozens of made-for-TV premieres.
This is a U.S.-first guide to movies that premiered during 2024—not older films that merely appeared in a holiday catalog. Features, shorts, specials, episodes, and international titles are labeled separately.

There was no single 2024 Christmas-movie release list. New holiday films arrived in theaters, on Netflix and Prime Video, and through large television slates from Hallmark, Lifetime, Great American Family, UPtv, BET+, OWN, Peacock, Pure Flix, CBS, ABC, and other outlets. The most prominent U.S. releases included The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Red One, Meet Me Next Christmas, Hot Frosty, The Merry Gentlemen, Our Little Secret, That Christmas, and Jack in Time for Christmas.
This guide treats “releasing in 2024” as a first theatrical, streaming, television, or digital premiere between January 1 and December 31, 2024. It does not count an older film simply because a service promoted it in a 2024 holiday collection. Dates are U.S.-first unless a title is explicitly identified as an international release.

Theatrical Christmas movies released in 2024
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever — November 8, 2024
Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company brought this adaptation of Barbara Robinson’s 1972 story to U.S. theaters on November 8. The plot centers on the Herdman children, a famously unruly group who unexpectedly take over a church Christmas pageant. The result is a family Christmas story built around misbehavior, community judgment, and the possibility that the children understand the Christmas story more clearly than the adults expect.
The film is directly adapted from Barbara Robinson’s original novel, which makes the book a useful companion for families who want to read the source material before or after watching the movie. The book is not a 2024 release; it is the earlier work on which the film is based.
Red One — November 15, 2024
Amazon MGM Studios released Red One in U.S. theaters on November 15. Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans lead the Christmas action comedy, which begins with Santa Claus being kidnapped and develops into a North Pole rescue mission. It is one of the year’s clearest departures from the usual romantic-comedy format, combining holiday fantasy with action-adventure spectacle.

Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point
This independent family drama and comedy received a 2024 theatrical release. Unlike the large studio holiday titles, it focuses on a Christmas family gathering and the tensions, affection, and disorder that surface when relatives share the same celebration. The supplied release information confirms the 2024 theatrical run but does not establish one universal U.S. date; festival, theatrical, and market dates may differ.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas is an Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller set around Christmas. It belongs in a global 2024 guide, but it should not be presented as a U.S. Hallmark-style television movie. Its release history is international, and the relevant date depends on the market being discussed.
Netflix Christmas movies released in 2024
Netflix’s principal 2024 holiday feature slate covered romantic comedy, fantasy romance, workplace and performance-centered stories, former-lovers comedy, and animation. These were Netflix premieres rather than older films newly placed in a seasonal catalog.
Rank #2
Meet Me Next Christmas — November 6
The first of Netflix’s principal 2024 Christmas features in this schedule, Meet Me Next Christmas is a holiday romantic comedy built around a determined effort to reach a Christmas-themed event and the romantic complications that follow.
Hot Frosty — November 13
Hot Frosty is Netflix’s fantasy-leaning Christmas romance. Its premise uses the familiar holiday idea of a snowman becoming part of human life, giving the film a supernatural angle rather than treating Christmas solely as a family or workplace setting.
The Merry Gentlemen — November 20
This Netflix holiday romance uses a show-business setting and a performance-driven premise. It is a good fit for viewers looking for a Christmas movie with choreography, a comeback or production storyline, and romance rather than an ensemble family drama.
Our Little Secret — November 27
Our Little Secret is a former-lovers Christmas comedy. Its holiday setup forces two people with shared history to conceal their relationship while spending the season in close proximity, making it one of Netflix’s more recognizable Christmas reunion-and-secrets premises.

That Christmas — December 4
That Christmas is the major animated feature in Netflix’s 2024 Christmas lineup. It is based on Richard Curtis’s children’s books and directed by Simon Otto. Rather than following one conventional romance, it presents a family-oriented animated holiday story with an ensemble feel.
Mary — December 6
Netflix released Mary on December 6. It is best categorized as a Christmas-season religious or biblical film, not as a conventional Christmas romance. Including it matters for viewers seeking faith-based holiday viewing, but its tone and subject are substantially different from the platform’s romantic-comedy releases.
Prime Video and Amazon MGM
Jack in Time for Christmas — December 3
Prime Video premiered the holiday comedy Jack in Time for Christmas on December 3, 2024. It belongs to the streaming-first portion of the year’s Christmas schedule, unlike Red One, which began with a theatrical release under Amazon MGM.
Rank #3
- Factory sealed DVD
Amazon’s holiday pages also promoted older titles such as Merry Little Batman, Candy Cane Lane, The Grinch, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Spirited. Those were catalog or seasonal-recommendation titles, not 2024 premieres, so they are excluded from the new-release count.
Disney+ and family animation
An Almost Christmas Story — fall 2024
An Almost Christmas Story is an animated short released on Disney+ in fall 2024. Directed by David Lowery and produced by Alfonso Cuarón, it follows an owl trapped in a Rockefeller Center Christmas tree who befriends a lost girl.
It belongs in a broad Christmas-movies-and-shorts guide, but it should not be counted as a feature-length movie. Disney+’s holiday catalog also contained many returning Christmas films and specials; those older titles are not new 2024 releases.
Hallmark’s 2024 Christmas movie slate
Hallmark Channel’s 2024 Countdown to Christmas schedule contained 32 new movies. Additional holiday premieres appeared through Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark+, so “the Hallmark Christmas lineup” is broader than the 32-movie Hallmark Channel count.
The named 2024 Hallmark premieres documented in the release material include:
- ‘Twas the Date Before Christmas
- Our Holiday Story
- Christmas on Call
- Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story
- A Grand Biltmore Christmas
- The Christmas Charade
- The Christmas Quest
- The Santa Class
- The Finnish Line
- A Reason for the Season
- The Christmas Secret
- The Christmas Club
- Debbie Macomber’s Joyful Mrs. Miracle
- Three Wiser Men and a Baby
- the 2024 Cherry Lane-related titles
Hallmark’s official 2024 movie guide is the controlling source for the complete title list, exact premiere dates, and channel labels. That distinction matters because a title may premiere on Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, or Hallmark+ rather than on the same outlet. The supplied schedule summary identifies the 32-movie Hallmark Channel total but does not reproduce every title and date, so unlisted entries should be checked against Hallmark’s official guide rather than guessed from third-party calendars.
Lifetime’s 2024 holiday movies
Lifetime’s 2024 holiday schedule contained 12 new movies. Titles identified in the published lineup include:
Rank #4
- A Very Merry Beauty Salon
- Christmas at Plumhill Manor
- The Holiday Proposal Plan
- The Christmas Project
- A Carpenter Christmas Romance
- other Lifetime original holiday romances in the 12-movie slate
The Lifetime schedule is the appropriate source for the remaining titles, premiere dates, loglines, and cast details. Because the research record supplied for this guide names only part of the 12-movie lineup, it would be misleading to invent the missing entries or assign dates from an unofficial holiday list.
Great American Family’s 2024 Christmas slate
Great American Family announced an 18-original-movie Great American Christmas slate. The named titles include:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- A Cinderella Christmas Ball
- A Christmas Less Traveled
- A Royal Christmas on Ice
- Christmas on the Alpaca Farm
- The Christmas Charade
- Tails of Christmas
- A Little Women’s Christmas
- other faith-and-family holiday originals in the 18-film slate
Use Great American Family’s official schedule or printable slate for final spelling and dates. Network schedules changed some titles and times during the season. Also watch for title collisions: The Christmas Charade appears in both the Hallmark and Great American Family material, while Home Sweet Christmas also appears in the Pure Flix examples. A matching title does not establish that the productions are the same movie.
Other U.S. Christmas movie premieres
The 2024 holiday calendar extended beyond the most heavily promoted services. Contemporary cross-network schedules documented new titles from BET+, OWN, Peacock, Pure Flix, UPtv, The Roku Channel, CBS, and ABC.
- Brewster’s Millions: Christmas — BET+
- The Holiday List — Peacock
- A Season to Remember — OWN
- Home Sweet Christmas — Pure Flix
- multiple new UPtv holiday premieres
These examples should not be mistaken for a complete network-by-network inventory. The dated holiday schedule is useful for chronology, while the individual network schedules are better for confirming a title’s exact premiere date, outlet, and later replay or streaming window. The year’s television programming included considerably more than Netflix and Hallmark.
A practical 2024 release calendar
| Date or period | New title | Outlet | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fall | An Almost Christmas Story | Disney+ | Animated short |
| November 6 | Meet Me Next Christmas | Netflix | Streaming feature |
| November 8 | The Best Christmas Pageant Ever | Theaters | U.S. theatrical feature |
| November 13 | Hot Frosty | Netflix | Fantasy romance |
| November 15 | Red One | Theaters | Amazon MGM action comedy |
| November 20 | The Merry Gentlemen | Netflix | Performance-centered romance |
| November 27 | Our Little Secret | Netflix | Former-lovers comedy |
| December 3 | Jack in Time for Christmas | Prime Video | Streaming holiday comedy |
| December 4 | That Christmas | Netflix | Animated feature |
| December 6 | Mary | Netflix | Religious Christmas-season film |
| 2024, date dependent on market | Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point | Theatrical | Independent family drama/comedy |
| 2024, international schedule | Merry Christmas | International theatrical release | Hindi-language mystery thriller |
Hallmark, Lifetime, Great American Family, and the other television networks released many additional movies on dates spread across October, November, and December. Their schedules are best read as separate slates rather than forced into this short streaming-and-theatrical calendar, particularly because several services used overlapping dates and repeat premieres.
What does not count as a 2024 Christmas movie release?
A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter
Netflix released A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter on December 6, 2024, but it is a music and variety special, not a narrative Christmas movie. It belongs in a holiday-specials sidebar, not the core film list.
Best Value
The Simpsons’ “O C’mon All Ye Faithful”
O C’mon All Ye Faithful is a holiday television episode or special from The Simpsons, not a standalone feature film. It may appear in a service’s Christmas collection without becoming a new Christmas movie release.
Older catalog titles
Candy Cane Lane, Merry Little Batman, and The Christmas Chronicles were among the older titles promoted in 2024 holiday hubs. They can be useful viewing recommendations, but they were released before 2024 and should be labeled as catalog movies.
How to check where a 2024 movie can be watched
- Start with the original premiere outlet. A Netflix or Prime Video premiere is different from a theatrical release later licensed to a service.
- Check the country. A U.S. premiere date does not establish availability in Canada, the United Kingdom, India, or another territory.
- Separate subscription access from rental access. A movie may be available to rent or buy even when it is no longer included in a subscription catalog.
- Confirm the format. A short, special, episode, and feature can all appear in the same holiday hub, but they are not interchangeable.
- Use the network’s own schedule for TV movies. This is especially important for Hallmark and Great American Family, where channel assignments, times, and schedule details can change.
For a 2024 retrospective, the premiere date is the stable fact. Current availability is a separate, volatile fact that should be rechecked immediately before watching.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Bottom line
The clearest core answer is the theatrical and streaming group: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Red One, Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point, Meet Me Next Christmas, Hot Frosty, The Merry Gentlemen, Our Little Secret, That Christmas, Jack in Time for Christmas, Mary, and the international Merry Christmas, with Disney+’s An Almost Christmas Story included separately as an animated short. Television added dozens more originals, led by Hallmark’s 32-movie Channel slate, Lifetime’s 12-movie schedule, and Great American Family’s 18-film slate. The key is to distinguish those genuine 2024 premieres from older catalog titles and from specials that only look like movies in a holiday collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter a Christmas movie?
No. A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter is a music and variety special, not a narrative Christmas movie. It should be listed separately from Netflix’s 2024 holiday films.
When did Red One come out, and is it on Prime Video?
Red One premiered in U.S. theaters on November 15, 2024. Amazon MGM intended the film to continue to Prime Video, but current inclusion and availability can vary by country and should be checked separately.
How many new Hallmark Christmas movies were released in 2024?
Yes, but the 2024 Hallmark schedule is much larger than the short list of best-known titles. Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas slate contained 32 new movies, with additional premieres on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark+. Use Hallmark’s official guide for the complete title-and-date inventory.

Do older movies promoted in 2024 Christmas collections count as 2024 releases?
No. Movies such as Candy Cane Lane, Merry Little Batman, and The Christmas Chronicles were older releases promoted in 2024 holiday collections. They are catalog titles, not 2024 premieres.
The Bottom Line
In the U.S., 2024’s major new Christmas releases spanned theaters, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hallmark, Lifetime, Great American Family, and numerous smaller networks. Count premieres—not titles newly promoted in a catalog—and keep features, shorts, specials, episodes, and international releases clearly labeled.
