Whether you’re hunting for something new, revisiting a modern classic, or just trying to decide what’s worth your time, this guide is designed to help you map out your movie nights for the month ahead.

Big Ticket Premieres & Must-Watch Movie Highlights

September’s Peacock lineup leans into recognizable titles and audience-tested favorites, making it an especially friendly month for subscribers who want dependable, high-impact movie nights. Rather than overwhelming with obscure deep cuts, the platform prioritizes films with strong word of mouth, major studio backing, and clear rewatch value. It’s a lineup built to reward both intentional picks and last-minute scrolling.

Major Studio Crowd-Pleasers

One of the biggest draws this month is Peacock’s continued emphasis on Universal-backed hits that feel tailor-made for streaming marathons. Franchise entries and blockbuster-era favorites anchor the lineup, offering the kind of familiarity that works well for weekend viewing or casual background watches. These are the movies that tend to dominate the “Top 10” rows once they land, thanks to their built-in fanbases.

Action fans and blockbuster loyalists will find plenty to gravitate toward, with high-concept spectacle and recognizable stars leading the charge. These titles aren’t just filler additions; they’re the kind of movies people actively search for when deciding whether to press play.

Thrillers, Horror, and September’s Seasonal Shift

As September bridges the gap between summer and spooky season, Peacock smartly leans into thrillers and horror-leaning selections that set the mood without going full October. Expect suspense-driven stories, darker genre entries, and films that reward late-night viewing with tense pacing and memorable set pieces. This is where the lineup starts to feel more curated than random.

These additions are ideal for viewers who want something atmospheric but not overly demanding, striking a balance between popcorn entertainment and genuine edge-of-your-seat moments. It’s an early signal that Peacock is already warming up its horror engine ahead of fall.

Comfort Watches and Rewatchable Favorites

Not every highlight is about intensity or spectacle. September also brings a solid batch of comfort movies that thrive on familiarity, humor, or nostalgic appeal. These are the titles that play well on repeat, whether you’re revisiting an old favorite or introducing it to someone new.

For families and casual viewers, these rewatchable staples help round out the month, ensuring Peacock remains an easy default choice when decision fatigue sets in. They may not dominate headlines, but they often become the most-played films on the service.

What makes September 2024’s Peacock movie highlights stand out is how clearly they’re programmed for real viewing habits. For subscribers planning their watchlists, these big-ticket additions represent the best starting points before diving into the full lineup. They’re the movies most likely to spark interest, deliver on expectations, and shape how Peacock’s September slate is remembered.

These additions are designed to fill the gaps between major release dates, giving subscribers plenty of options for casual weeknight viewing or comfort-watch marathons.

Recent Studio Crowd-Pleasers

Their arrival reinforces Peacock’s ongoing strength in studio comedy, particularly films that benefit from high replay value rather than one-time novelty.

Family-Friendly and All-Ages Options

To balance out the darker genre fare arriving later in the month, Peacock continues to bolster its family and all-ages offerings with animated and live-action favorites that play across generations. These films are especially well-timed as households transition from summer viewing habits into fall routines.

The Secret Life of Pets
The Secret Life of Pets 2

These additions ensure September’s lineup remains approachable for subscribers who prioritize family movie nights alongside the platform’s heavier action and horror titles.

Collectively, these studio films round out Peacock’s September 2024 movie offering by filling in key genres and viewing moods. Whether you’re chasing recent box office hits, lighthearted comedies, or dependable family entertainment, this portion of the lineup makes it easy to find something that fits without waiting for a specific release date.

Peacock Originals & Exclusive Movie Premieres

While September leans heavily on recognizable studio hits, Peacock also makes room for a smaller but notable batch of original-branded films and first-run exclusives. These titles are positioned as event-style additions, offering subscribers something that feels newer, riskier, or more conversation-driven than the platform’s library staples.

Exclusive First-Streaming Premieres

Monkey Man
Dev Patel’s raw, kinetic directorial debut lands as one of Peacock’s most talked-about exclusives of the month. Blending brutal action with political fury, the film reworks classic revenge tropes through a distinctly modern, internationally influenced lens, making it an easy recommendation for viewers looking to balance September’s comfort watches with something more aggressive and stylish.

Abigail
A horror-forward crowd-pleaser from Universal’s genre pipeline, Abigail brings a high-concept twist to the home-invasion formula with sharp pacing and a playful streak of dark humor. Its arrival strengthens Peacock’s growing horror lineup and offers a fresh option for subscribers easing into fall’s spooky-season mindset.

Peacock-Branded Originals

September’s original movie output is more selective than splashy, but that restraint works in the platform’s favor. Rather than flooding the schedule, Peacock positions its originals as curated alternatives to theatrical titles, aimed at viewers who want something new without committing to a franchise or sequel-heavy runtime.

Together, these originals and exclusives function as Peacock’s “newness factor” for September 2024. They may not dominate the calendar numerically, but they play an outsized role in shaping the month’s viewing conversation, especially for subscribers prioritizing fresh releases alongside proven studio favorites.

Genre Guide: Horror, Comedy, Action, Family & More

With Peacock’s September slate now fully in view, the easiest way to navigate the lineup is by genre. Whether you’re planning spooky-season warm-ups, lighthearted comedies, high-octane action nights, or family-friendly weekend picks, this guide breaks down where each title fits and who it’s best for.

Horror & Thriller

September quietly signals Peacock’s transition into fall horror, led by Abigail and supported by a deeper bench of genre staples. The film’s mix of supernatural menace and dark humor makes it an accessible entry point for viewers who prefer tension over outright terror.

Subscribers can also expect a rotation of studio thrillers and horror-adjacent titles throughout the month, many of which lean on familiar franchises and recognizable faces. It’s a lineup designed for evening watches, pairing well with the early chill of September nights.

Action & Crime

Action fans are especially well served this month thanks to Monkey Man, which stands out as the most intense and conversation-ready film in Peacock’s September catalog. Its raw energy and political undercurrents make it a clear recommendation for viewers craving something more visceral than standard studio fare.

Alongside it, Peacock continues to stock dependable action and crime movies that emphasize pace, spectacle, and replay value. These are the kinds of titles that work just as well for casual background viewing as they do for focused movie nights.

Comedy

September’s comedy offerings skew toward proven crowd-pleasers rather than experimental humor. Expect studio comedies with recognizable stars, broad appeal, and an emphasis on comfort viewing as summer winds down.

These films serve as easy palette cleansers between heavier genres, making them ideal for weeknight streaming or group viewing. Peacock’s strength here lies in familiarity, giving subscribers options that don’t require much commitment to enjoy.

Family & Animation

For households looking to keep things light, Peacock’s family-friendly selections provide safe, repeatable viewing throughout the month. Animated features and live-action family films anchor this section, appealing to younger audiences while remaining tolerable for adults.

September’s timing makes these titles especially useful as routines reset around school schedules. They’re dependable picks for afternoons, weekends, or shared family movie nights.

Drama, Romance & Everything Else

Beyond the major genres, Peacock rounds out September with a mix of dramas and romantic titles that focus on character-driven storytelling. These films may not dominate the promotional push, but they add important variety to the month’s lineup.

For subscribers who prefer quieter, more emotionally grounded movies, this portion of the catalog offers solid alternatives to action-heavy or horror-centric picks. It’s where Peacock’s depth becomes most apparent, rewarding viewers willing to browse beyond the headline titles.

Hidden Gems & Underrated Picks Worth Adding to Your Watchlist

Beyond the headliners and familiar comfort movies, Peacock’s September lineup quietly includes several films that reward viewers willing to dig a little deeper. These are the titles that don’t always dominate the homepage but often end up being the most satisfying discoveries of the month.

They span genres and tones, making them ideal for subscribers who want something slightly off the beaten path without committing to a full-on art-house deep dive.

Smart Thrillers That Deserve More Attention

Upgrade stands out as one of the sharpest sci-fi thrillers in Peacock’s September catalog. What starts as a lean revenge story quickly evolves into a clever meditation on technology and control, elevated by inventive action and a surprisingly playful tone. It’s a perfect pick for viewers who want something slick and propulsive without blockbuster bloat.

The Invitation offers a slower, moodier kind of tension, building dread through atmosphere rather than jump scares. Its dinner-party-gone-wrong setup unfolds patiently, making the payoff all the more unsettling. This is an ideal choice for horror fans who appreciate psychological unease over spectacle.

Character-Driven Dramas Worth Your Time

Columbus is an easy film to overlook, but it’s one of the most quietly affecting dramas available this month. Centered on two strangers bonding over architecture, responsibility, and missed opportunities, the film thrives on stillness and subtle performances. It’s best enjoyed when you’re in the mood for something reflective and intimate.

Thoroughbreds brings a darker edge to character-driven storytelling, blending teen drama with pitch-black humor. Its restrained performances and uneasy tone make it far more memorable than its premise initially suggests. For viewers craving something stylish and morally ambiguous, this is a strong late-night pick.

Comfort Movies With Unexpected Depth

Some September arrivals double as comfort viewing while still offering more beneath the surface. These are the films that feel familiar on first glance but reveal sharper writing or emotional resonance once you settle in. They work especially well for viewers who want something engaging without the intensity of Peacock’s heavier titles.

These under-the-radar selections reinforce Peacock’s strength as a platform that balances mainstream appeal with depth. If you’ve already queued the big releases, these hidden gems are where September’s lineup really starts to shine.

What’s Leaving Peacock Soon — Last Chance to Watch Before October

While September brings an impressive wave of new arrivals, it also means a handful of movies are quietly rotating off Peacock’s library as the calendar flips to October. If any of these titles have been lingering on your watchlist, now’s the time to move them to the front of the queue. As always with streaming rotations, exact departure dates can shift, but these films are currently expected to leave by the end of the month.

Big Studio Favorites Heading Out

Several recognizable studio titles are among the most notable exits, making this a prime moment for comfort rewatches or first-time viewings. These are the kinds of movies that tend to disappear and reappear across platforms, but there’s no guarantee when they’ll be back.

Jurassic Park
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park III
The Mummy (1999)
The Mummy Returns

If you’re feeling nostalgic for blockbuster-era spectacle, Peacock’s current run of Jurassic Park films is especially worth prioritizing. They remain endlessly rewatchable, balancing practical effects, adventure, and pure cinematic momentum.

Critically Acclaimed Dramas Leaving the Platform

A few quieter but highly respected films are also expected to exit by the end of September. These are ideal picks for viewers looking to squeeze in something thoughtful before it’s gone.

Manchester by the Sea
Blue Valentine
Atonement

These dramas reward patient viewing and strong performances, making them perfect choices for a focused movie night. If you’ve been meaning to catch up on award-season staples, this is your reminder.

Genre Picks You Might Miss Later

Peacock’s rotating genre slate means horror, action, and thrillers can vanish quickly. A few fan-favorite genre entries are likely on their way out, so genre lovers should take note.

The Purge
The Purge: Anarchy
The Strangers

These films offer straightforward thrills and tense setups, making them easy late-night watches before they disappear from the service.

As September winds down, Peacock’s departures serve as a reminder that streaming libraries are always in motion. Pairing new arrivals with a few last-chance watches is the smartest way to get the most out of your subscription. Whether you’re revisiting blockbuster classics or finally checking off an acclaimed drama, now’s the moment to watch before October resets the slate.
