In the 25-film Eon James Bond series, the actors who played 007, in theatrical release order, are Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Sean Connery again, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. That sequence represents six different actors: Connery returned after Lazenby’s single film.
This list covers Eon’s official film series. David Niven’s 1967 Casino Royale and Sean Connery’s 1983 Never Say Never Again are non-Eon films, so they are not part of the 25-film sequence below.

Why some lists say there are seven Bond actors
The answer depends on which films a list counts. Eon’s series has six different Bond actors. Add David Niven, who played Bond in the non-Eon 1967 Casino Royale, and the total becomes seven distinct actors across the films discussed in broader guides. Connery’s appearance in the non-Eon 1983 Never Say Never Again does not add another actor; he is already counted.

Rotten Tomatoes’ guide, updated September 28, 2026, covers 27 Bond films, including the two non-Eon titles. That broader film count and the six-actor count for Eon’s 25-film series describe different scopes rather than a contradiction.
