Marvel’s official sources explicitly identify three characters as Nexus Beings: Wanda Maximoff, Lore, and Man-Thing (Ted Sallis). That is a list of confirmed examples, not a verified exhaustive roster: the available sources do not establish a complete list across Marvel continuities or a universal definition of the term.
Confirmed Nexus Beings in Marvel Comics
| Character | What the official source says | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch | Marvel’s Scarlet Witch reading-list entry says she discovers she is a Nexus Being in Scarlet Witch (1994) #1. Read Marvel’s listing. | This is the central example in the Scarlet Witch story covered by these sources. |
| Lore | Marvel’s listing for Scarlet Witch (1994) #4 calls Lore “a fellow Nexus Being.” Read the issue listing. | Lore is a separate character, not another name for Wanda. Marvel’s Agatha Harkness history also describes Lore’s arrival in Wanda’s story. Read Marvel’s article. |
| Man-Thing / Ted Sallis | In a Marvel interview, Beastly Buddies writer Steve Foxe calls Ted “a not-too-talkative Nexus Being.” Read the interview. Marvel’s announcement for the comic also calls him a “plant-based nexus being.” Read the announcement. | This is an explicit use of the label beyond the Scarlet Witch and Lore story. |
What “Nexus Being” means—and what Marvel has not settled
These sources use “Nexus Being” as a character label, but they do not provide a universal definition, establish a one-per-universe rule, or supply a complete roster across continuities. The Scarlet Witch issue listings identify characters within particular story synopses; they do not set out a general rule that can safely be applied to every character called a Nexus Being.

That distinction matters when reading Marvel’s description of the Phoenix Force as a “nexus of all the psionic energy that has, does, and ever will be created.” The wording describes the Force’s relationship to psionic energy; it does not confirm Jean Grey as a Nexus Being. Marvel’s Jean Grey page in the sources here does not make that identification. Phoenix Force page · Jean Grey page.
