Actor Evangeline Lilly said in a video update reported in January 2026 that scans showed widespread decreases in brain function and that she had brain damage after a traumatic brain injury. The statement followed a May 2025 fall at a Hawaii beach. Her account has not been independently verified in the news reports, which do not include her medical records or a clinician’s interpretation of the scans.
What Evangeline Lilly said about her brain scans
In an early January 2026 video update, Lilly said “almost every area in [her] brain is functioning at a decreased capacity,” according to the Los Angeles Times. The Guardian reported her saying: “So I do have brain damage from the TBI and possibly other factors going on.”
Those statements describe Lilly’s understanding of her scan results and condition. The reports do not publish medical records or provide an independent medical interpretation, so they do not establish what the scans showed clinically or confirm a diagnosis beyond her account.
How the 2025 accident happened
News coverage says Lilly fainted at a Hawaii beach in May 2025 and fell face-first onto a boulder, sustaining facial injuries and a concussion or traumatic brain injury. The reports do not establish why she fainted.
