Étoile ends its first season with Tobias Bell and Gabin Roux sharing a kiss, but the series did not establish what would come next for them. The creators had left that question open while a second season was only hypothetical. Prime Video later cancelled the show after one season, so there is no confirmed continuation.
Who plays Tobias and Gabin in Étoile?
Gideon Glick plays Tobias Bell, an American choreographer sent to Paris as part of an exchange between ballet companies in New York and Paris. Ivan du Pontavice plays Gabin Roux, a French dancer working with Tobias. The 2025 Prime Video series was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino. Prime Video’s Season 1 listing identifies the cast and summarizes the episodes; catalog availability can vary by territory and change over time.
The wider ensemble includes Luke Kirby, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou de Laâge, David Alvarez, Taïs Vinolo, David Haig, LaMay Zhang and Simon Callow. The Los Angeles Times also identifies Glick as Tobias and du Pontavice as Gabin.
Are Tobias and Gabin together at the end of Étoile?
Their story moves from artistic tension and Tobias’s lack of awareness of Gabin’s interest toward greater trust. The Season 1 finale culminates in a kiss between them onstage. That moment signals a shift in their connection, but it does not show how a longer-term relationship would work.

Glick described the relationship as a catalyst for both men to lower their defenses and recognize ballet as a collaborative art. He said, “their relationship is such a catalyst for both of them to let down their defenses and understand that this art form is collaborative.” In a separate interview, he said he wanted to explore what it would mean for them to be in a real relationship, including the everyday experience of being companions. That was the actor’s interest in a possible continuation, not confirmation that one was planned. AOL’s interview with Glick and the creators discusses the relationship and its potential future; Town & Country’s interview with Glick covers his thoughts on Tobias and the finale.
What did the creators say about Tobias and Gabin’s future?
When the first-season finale was being discussed, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino had not decided where the characters’ story would go. Dan Palladino said the answer would depend on whether they could make another season and on its timeline: the story might resume immediately or jump ahead. He also described their approach this way: “We actually write these things that we don’t exactly know where everybody’s going.” Those remarks reflected an unresolved creative possibility, not an announced plan. The creators’ interview with AOL addresses their Season 1 decisions.
