Both ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited include ESPN+ content, but individual documentaries can carry different access labels. ESPN Select is the ESPN+ content tier; ESPN Unlimited adds ESPN networks and services. Before subscribing, check the plan label on the specific film or series you want to watch.
Which ESPN subscription includes documentaries?
Both plans provide access to ESPN+ content, where ESPN surfaces documentaries and docuseries. ESPN Select consists entirely of ESPN+ content. ESPN Unlimited includes ESPN+ as well as ESPN’s broader set of networks and services. That difference matters if you want live programming or other ESPN content beyond ESPN+—it does not mean every documentary is exclusive to one tier.
ESPN’s documentary collection labels individual titles with the plan that provides access. Its listings include titles marked ESPN+ and others marked ESPN Unlimited, so there is no reliable blanket rule that all documentaries are included in Select or that every documentary requires Unlimited. Use the displayed label for the exact title as your guide. Browse ESPN’s documentary collection.

What documentaries and docuseries are available?
ESPN promotes its 30 for 30 library, E60, and other ESPN Originals. These collections can include both films and series, but the name of a collection alone does not tell you which plan unlocks each title. ESPN’s catalog provides the more useful answer by labeling individual listings with their required access—examples include both ESPN+ and ESPN Unlimited labels. Check the collection and its title labels.
Catalog availability is a changing snapshot, not a permanent guarantee. A title’s presence or access label can change, so verify it in ESPN’s current catalog before choosing a subscription. If you are deciding whether Select is enough for one particular documentary, look up that title rather than relying on a general claim about 30 for 30 or ESPN Originals.

ESPN says an active ESPN Select or ESPN Unlimited subscription enables ESPN+ access in the ESPN App. To browse ESPN+ content:

- Select Browse.
- Open the ESPN+ channel, then find the documentary or series you want and check its displayed access label.
These are ESPN’s published navigation steps; app layout and labels may vary as the service changes. Read ESPN’s instructions for accessing ESPN+.

How to choose the right plan
Choose ESPN Select if ESPN+ is what you want
Select is the lower-priced of the two plans in ESPN’s October 5, 2026 listing and consists entirely of ESPN+ content. If the documentaries you care about are labeled ESPN+, Select provides the relevant tier of access. It does not add the broader set of ESPN networks included with Unlimited.
Choose ESPN Unlimited if you also want ESPN networks
Unlimited includes ESPN+ along with ESPN networks and services such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network and ACC Network. Its higher listed price reflects that broader access. For documentary viewing alone, do not assume Unlimited is necessary: check each title’s label first.

- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
Compare the added cost against what you will watch
At the listed monthly rates, Unlimited costs $18 more per month than Select. At the listed annual rates, it costs $180 more per year. Those are simple differences between ESPN’s published prices on October 5, 2026, not a guarantee that a particular offer or checkout total will match them. The practical question is whether you will use the additional networks and services, not just whether you want documentaries.

Does ESPN+ include 30 for 30?
ESPN promotes its 30 for 30 library as part of its documentary offering, and both Select and Unlimited include ESPN+ content. Check the listing for the particular 30 for 30 title, since ESPN’s catalog assigns access labels to individual titles and includes more than one label type.

Not for every documentary. Some catalog titles are labeled ESPN+, while others are labeled ESPN Unlimited. The title’s current listing is the way to determine which plan provides access.
Is ESPN Select enough for ESPN Originals?
Select includes ESPN+ content, but the ESPN Originals collection should not be treated as a single access tier. Check the label shown for each film or series you want to watch.
