ESPN’s sports debate show Around the Horn ended on May 23, 2025, with its 4,953rd episode. ESPN announced the decision on March 4, 2025, but did not give a specific reason for ending the program.
When did Around the Horn end?
The final episode aired Friday, May 23, 2025. ESPN announced the planned end on March 4, saying the weekday program would conclude after 23 years and more than 4,900 episodes. In its retrospective published May 22, ESPN put the final total at 4,953 episodes.
The two episode figures describe different points in time: “more than 4,900” was the estimate in the March announcement; 4,953 was ESPN’s count at the finale.
Why did ESPN cancel Around the Horn?
ESPN’s March announcement did not state a specific reason for ending the show. Executive Vice President David Roberts praised its longevity and said the network looked forward to celebrating its accomplishments before the final sign-off. That statement recognizes the program’s run; it does not explain the decision.
