The image came from a Christmas video posted in December 2022, in which a Santa-hat-wearing A380 is shown racing along a runway behind reindeer before taking off. The aircraft-and-reindeer spectacle was a festive visual-effects production, not an aviation event.
What the Emirates video showed
Emirates captioned the clip: “Captain Claus, requesting permission for take-off. Merry Christmas from Emirates.” The short holiday scene turns the airline’s A380 into Santa’s sleigh: reindeer pull it along a runway, and it lifts off as if setting out on a Christmas journey. Campaign Middle East and NDTV both described the clip when it appeared in December 2022.
How the clip was made
Campaign Middle East reported that Emirates’ in-house social-media team developed the concept and filmed the video, working with 100 Pixels on the visual effects. Its report identifies Mostafa Eldiasty, 100 Pixels’ creative director and VFX/3D artist, as the person managing that work. The collaboration made the impossible image—the reindeer towing a giant passenger aircraft—work as a piece of holiday fantasy.
What the 2022 engagement figures mean
Campaign Middle East reported that the video had passed 2.5 million TikTok likes and 328,000 shares, and 1.46 million Instagram likes, at the time of its December 2022 article. Those are historical snapshots reported then, not current platform counts.

Don’t confuse it with Emirates’ 2025 holiday video
The reindeer-pulled “Captain Claus” clip is from 2022. Emirates later released a separate holiday A380 video in 2025, which Mint referred to as “Sleigh380.” The later video is not the source of the reindeer-runway scene described here. Mint’s December 2025 report covers that distinct campaign.
