Spoilers through the Season 5 finale: Sylvie and Laurent are already married when the series reveals their secret in Season 2. Sylvie says she never divorced him, even while living apart and pursuing other relationships. Their marriage remains part of the story through Seasons 3 and 4; in the Season 5 finale, Sylvie demands a divorce over Laurent’s debts. The recap confirms her demand, not a completed divorce.
Season 2: Sylvie’s secret marriage is revealed
The Season 2 reveal is not a wedding or a new marriage: it is the moment viewers learn that Sylvie is already married to Laurent Grateau, a St-Tropez beach-club owner. At the time, Sylvie also has a boyfriend, Erik, while Laurent remains part of her life. In a Netflix Tudum interview, actor Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu said creator Darren Star introduced the secret-marriage idea after Season 1; she had not known about it when that season ended. She also said, “I like the idea of a secret marriage.” Read the Season 2 interview on Netflix Tudum.
Season 3: Sylvie says she never divorced Laurent
Season 3 makes the distinction between their relationship and their legal status explicit: Leroy-Beaulieu says Sylvie never divorced Laurent, despite continuing her own life in Paris. Laurent comes to Paris and discusses opening an exclusive members club, with Louis de Leon as a possible investor. The actor describes Laurent as an enduring attachment in Sylvie’s life: “He’s the one,” she says. “That’s why she never divorced him. She went on with her life, but she never divorced that person. Her identity is there.” Read the Season 3 interview on Netflix Tudum.
Season 4: Sylvie’s decision puts Laurent’s club plans in tension
In Season 4, Sylvie has to decide whether to speak out in a Me Too–inspired exposé about JVMA boss Louis de Leon. The choice is complicated by Laurent’s plan to open a nightclub with JVMA funding. After the article is published, Laurent supports Sylvie, while the business consequences remain part of their story. See Netflix Tudum’s Season 4 recap.

- Lush perfume creates romantic aura swirled with seductive femininity, an intoxicating addition to your collection
Season 4 also introduces Geneviève, Laurent’s daughter from a past relationship. That family connection adds context to Laurent’s history, but it does not establish that Sylvie and Laurent had previously divorced; Leroy-Beaulieu’s Season 3 account says Sylvie never did.

In the Season 5 finale, Laurent’s debts and unpaid loans create a threat to Sylvie and her mother, Héloïse: they may be left financially responsible even if Sylvie divorces him.
