Emily in Paris Season 5 plot
The season picks up after Emily opens an Agence Grateau office in Rome and begins a relationship with Italian fashion heir Marcello Muratori. Her new role brings work and relationship complications, while her ties to Paris—and to Gabriel—remain part of the story.
Creator Darren Star described the season as “a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris,” adding, “Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.” The description comes from Netflix’s overview, published July 8, 2026. It is a broad premise rather than a full episode-by-episode recap.

Where was Emily in Paris Season 5 filmed?
The season’s story and filming connect Rome, Paris, and Venice. Netflix’s official filming guide distinguishes real filming places from fictional settings:
| City or setting | What appears in the series | Real-world detail |
|---|---|---|
| Rome | Locations around the city, including the Mercati di Traiano and the Aventine Keyhole | These are real Rome locations identified in Netflix’s filming guide. |
| Paris | Locations including Théâtre de Paris and Gabriel’s restaurant | The real restaurant Terra Nera stands in for the fictional L’Espirit de Gigi. |
| Venice | Venice settings, including Osteria Alla Frasca | Netflix’s guide identifies the restaurant as a filming location. |
| Solitano | Marcello’s hometown | Solitano is fictional; Netflix connects its look to the real area near Ostia Antica. |
The guide identifies filming locations, not a guarantee that a business or site is open to visitors. Check current venue information before planning a visit.

Yes. Rome takes on a larger role because Emily is running Agence Grateau’s Rome office, but Paris remains part of the story. Star’s description of the season as a story of Rome and Paris reflects that balance.
