A possible reopening or relocation was only under consideration in the closure report; no later confirmation is established here.
What happened to 34 Restaurant & Bar?
34 opened at 714 Baronne Street in October 2024. In a later report, the Emeril Group said the restaurant would close on January 31, 2026, because of rising operating costs. The group said employees would be offered opportunities at other Emeril Group restaurants. Eater New Orleans reported the opening, and New Orleans CityBusiness reported the closure.
The closure report described a possible reopening or relocation as under consideration, not as a confirmed plan. It does not establish that 34 reopened or moved. A New Orleans & Company chef listing still includes the restaurant, but that listing conflicts with the later closure report and may be outdated; it is not evidence that 34 is currently operating.
What kind of restaurant was 34?
The Emeril Group announced 34 in January 2024 as a Portuguese-inspired restaurant shaped by Lagasse’s heritage and the influence of his late mother, Hilda Mederios. Lagasse and his son E.J. collaborated on the concept. The name “34” referred to Emeril Lagasse III and IV. The planned menu and drinks emphasized tapas-style shared plates, a jamón bar, and an internationally influenced wine and cocktail program. The announcement was republished by My New Orleans.

At its October 2024 opening, the restaurant was described as Lagasse’s first Portuguese restaurant and a tribute to his mother, Portugal—especially Lisbon and Porto—and his hometown of Fall River, Massachusetts. In Eater New Orleans’ opening report, Lagasse reflected on the long path to opening: “Sometimes you can’t really control time.”
Where was 34 located?
Its reported address at opening and in the closure coverage was 714 Baronne Street in downtown New Orleans. The January 2024 concept announcement gave 710 Baronne Street, but the later opening and closure reports use 714 Baronne Street. For the restaurant’s published location, the later reporting is the stronger reference.

The available closure reporting does not establish a current reservation link, operating hours, or a confirmed reopening. Do not rely on older opening coverage or the still-visible tourism listing to assume that the restaurant is bookable. Check for a newer announcement from the Emeril Group before making plans.
