In a May 16, 2024 preview, Tim Gunn is reported to appear as himself in the Elsbeth season-one finale, with the title framing the moment around a red carpet. André De Shields is also reported as a guest star. The preview does not establish what happens in the scene beyond that setup.
What the finale preview reports
The item, titled “’Elsbeth’ Season Finale Sneak Peek – Tim Gunn Makes It Work on the Red Carpet,” describes a guest appearance by Gunn as himself and also names André De Shields as a guest star. It was published May 16, 2024, ahead of the finale’s planned broadcast the following Thursday. The Head Topics Canada page identifies Collider as the originating publisher; it is a secondary entertainment preview, not an official CBS episode guide.

Where Elsbeth fits in
Elsbeth stars Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni, an unconventional and effective lawyer working alongside the NYPD. That is the series context for the finale appearance; the preview does not describe the full episode plot or explain how the guests fit into it.
What the red-carpet hook does—and does not—tell us
The title promises a red-carpet setting and uses the phrase “Makes It Work,” but the available preview does not specify outfits, designers, dialogue, or the scene’s moment-by-moment action. It also does not establish what follows the guest appearance. Those details should not be inferred from Gunn’s public persona or the show’s usual format.
