But fundraising success has not meant delivery: as of the project’s October 1, 2026 update, production had stopped after a dispute over the printer’s price, and October 16 was the next available print window.
What the EGM Compendium campaign funded
The project was presented as “A Definitive History of Video Games Through the Pages of the #1 Gaming Magazine.” It is a book about video game history built around Electronic Gaming Monthly, not a new issue of the magazine. Kickstarter lists the campaign as running from October 15 through November 14, 2024, a 29-day funding period. Its campaign page reports $1,794,783 pledged by 21,947 backers against a $35,000 goal. Those are campaign totals, not a measure of net proceeds or proof that every pledge will become a delivered reward. Kickstarter campaign page
When will the EGM Compendium book arrive?
There is no confirmed arrival date in the latest available production update. On October 1, 2026, the creators said production had stopped after the printer raised its agreed price following payment of an advance. They said they paid the additional amount and that the next available print window was October 16. That date was a future production opportunity as of October 8, not confirmation that printing had begun or finished.
The update said the project would report progress as printing, binding, packaging, and fulfillment were completed. It did not say those stages had yet happened. A June 11, 2026 update had described an anticipated 100-page EGM #265 issue and a planned shipping schedule, but that schedule is no longer the current timeline in light of the October production stoppage. What backers can do if they do not want to wait
The October 1 update says backers who prefer not to wait can request refunds through Kickstarter Messages. The creators said refunds would continue until the books shipped. They also accepted responsibility for the delays and said the campaign remained in a position to fulfill its rewards. In the update signed “Josh & Mollie,” they wrote: “We are in a position to fulfill the campaign and will work to get everyone their rewards as quickly as possible.”

The campaign’s $1.79 million-plus result shows that it substantially exceeded its stated fundraising goal. It does not settle the separate question of fulfillment: the latest production information available on October 8, 2026, still described an interrupted process and a planned print window, not a shipped book. The campaign page and project updates establish the project and its status; they do not verify a current retail listing or establish that all backers have received rewards.
