Ed Sheeran’s June 2025 “Start of 2026” reply pointed toward a return to Australia, but it was not a formal tour announcement. The tour that followed was the Loop Tour: Frontier Touring later listed Australia and New Zealand stadium dates for January to March 2026, and now marks those shows completed.
What did Ed Sheeran mean by “Start of 2026”?
On 2 June 2025, PerthNow reported that Sheeran replied “Start of 2026” to a fan who asked, “How does coming back to Australia soon sound to you?” The exchange was described as a TikTok comment on travel content from Madrid, where Sheeran was during his European Mathematics Tour. PerthNow credited its image of the exchange to Ed Sheeran/TikTok; the comment is therefore best attributed to the outlet’s report rather than presented as independently verified here. PerthNow’s 2 June report.
The reply was a brief hint about timing, not a detailed announcement: it gave no venues, exact dates, ticket information, or tour name.
Was the TikTok comment an official tour announcement?
No. In the same PerthNow report, a representative for Sheeran’s management said: “We aren’t in the habit of pre-announcing announcements — but there will be news on our plans for 26 later this summer,”. That response explicitly separated the casual comment from the expected formal update. PerthNow’s story also mentioned the album Play in its contemporary context and gave a then-scheduled release date of 12 September 2025; that date was historical reporting, not a current release date.

What tour followed the tease?
The later Australian return was part of the Loop Tour, a stadium run across Australia and New Zealand. Frontier Touring’s artist page lists Australian shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide, alongside the tour’s New Zealand dates. The Australian Women’s Weekly reported additional announced shows on 29 July 2025 and outlined the route and venues; its update helps place those additions in the announcement timeline.
Frontier Touring is the source to use for the tour’s current status: its Ed Sheeran artist page lists the January–March 2026 Loop Tour events as completed. The dates are past, not upcoming, so the listings do not provide a current opportunity to attend those shows.

Why Perth was a notable stop
The Australian return followed a large Perth show in 2023. PerthNow reported that Sheeran’s single performance at Optus Stadium drew more than 70,000 fans and became Western Australia’s highest-ticketed event at that time. That is the outlet’s 2025 account of a 2023 event, not a claim that it remains the current record. PerthNow’s report.
