EA’s former Star Wars exclusivity has given way to a wider slate involving multiple studios and partners. The exact date its contract ended is not established by the official sources cited here, but Lucasfilm now lists games from several different developers. One of EA’s announced projects, Star Wars Zero Company, is already available; Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Star Wars Eclipse are listed without release dates.
What happened to EA’s Star Wars exclusivity?
The clearest evidence of the change is the games themselves: Star Wars projects are being made with more than one development and publishing partner. In 2021, Ubisoft announced a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Games for a game being developed by Massive Entertainment. StarWars.com later identified that project as Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. That partnership demonstrates the broader slate, but does not establish the terms or end date of EA’s contract. StarWars.com’s Outlaws overview describes the game and its setting.
EA and Lucasfilm announced three projects with Respawn in January 2022: another game in the Jedi franchise, a first-person shooter, and a strategy game developed by Bit Reactor with Respawn producing. The strategy project became Star Wars Zero Company. In February 2024, EA said it had pivoted away from early development on the shooter. The announcement does not say that EA is leaving Star Wars games altogether.
Which Star Wars games are next?

|---|---|---|---|
| Star Wars Zero Company | Single-player, turn-based tactics; developed by Bit Reactor with Respawn and Lucasfilm Games | Released August 27, 2026 | PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles |

| Next Star Wars Jedi game | New entry in the Jedi franchise; announced by EA and Lucasfilm | Announced; formal title and release date not established by the cited announcement | Not stated in the cited announcement |
| Star Wars Outlaws | Open-world game developed by Massive Entertainment with Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games | Released; the 2021 partnership announcement established the project, not a future release schedule | Not stated in the cited partnership announcement |
Lucasfilm’s official games page lists Galactic Racer and Eclipse, but gives neither a release date nor platforms for those titles. A listing is not a confirmed launch window.

What is Star Wars Zero Company?
Zero Company is a single-player, turn-based tactics game set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. Players lead Hawks, a former Republic officer, and an unconventional squad. EA describes customizable squad members, tactical operations, investigations, and a base called The Den. EA says the game launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles on August 27, 2026, through retail and digital storefronts. Its announcement also describes a Collector’s Edition containing a themed Hasbro Black Series Thermal Detonator.
EA and Lucasfilm revealed the Bit Reactor project on April 19, 2025. Lucasfilm Games vice president and general manager Douglas Reilly said, “At Lucasfilm Games, we’re huge tactics fans and we have wanted to make a game like this for a long time.” The game is the clearest completed outcome of the three-project Respawn slate announced in 2022.

What happened to the announced Star Wars FPS?
EA canceled its early-development FPS project in 2024. On February 28, EA President of Entertainment and Technology Laura Miele wrote that the company had decided to “pivot away from early development on a Star Wars FPS Action game” to focus on projects based on EA’s owned brands while supporting existing games. As a result, the 2022 FPS announcement should not be treated as an upcoming release.

EA’s announcements establish that it was developing another Jedi game and that it released Zero Company; they do not establish a current release date or formal title for the next Jedi game. The cancellation of the FPS does not, by itself, mean EA has ended its involvement with Star Wars. The wider portfolio also includes projects associated with Ubisoft, Massive Entertainment, Bit Reactor, Respawn, and Quantic Dream.
