In a 2018 PerthNow profile, Dianne Laurance described responding to a painful breakup by focusing on a positive mindset and refusing to hear updates about her former partner. She also created the Instagram account Dumped Wives Revenge to share encouraging messages with people in similar situations. Her “happiness is the best revenge” framing belongs to her personal story, not a promise that one response works for everyone.
Why Laurance created Dumped Wives Revenge
PerthNow reporter Krystal Sanders published the profile on 19 August 2018. It says Laurance created the Dumped Wives Revenge Instagram account just over a year earlier—approximately 2017—and used it to post empowering messages and inspiration for people in similar situations. The account’s purpose here is described as it was then; the profile does not establish whether it remains active or what it may offer now.
The breakup and the boundary she chose
The profile says Laurance had owned Laurance Wines in Margaret River and sold it in September 2016. It also reports that she later divorced the man she said had left her for a younger woman. That account of the breakup is attributed to Laurance and the PerthNow profile.
Laurance described her response as keeping a positive mindset and drawing a firm boundary around news of her former partner. As she put it: “I do not ever speak about him or ever hear anything about him.” The statement describes a choice she made for herself; it is not clinical advice or evidence that the same boundary suits everyone.

“The only way you can move forward is by not looking back”
That line, quoted by Sanders in PerthNow, captures the outlook Laurance shared in the interview: “The only way you can move forward is by not looking back.” It expresses her perspective on moving forward after the breakup, rather than a general rule for recovering from one.
PerthNow’s headline distilled her story into the phrase “happiness is the best revenge.” In the profile, that idea is presented through her account of choosing positivity and limiting what she heard about her ex—not as a measured result or a claim about what others should do.
