Bell also identified himself as the previously unnamed minor in Peck’s 2004 criminal case. Peck pleaded no contest to two child-sexual-abuse charges and was sentenced to 16 months in jail, according to contemporaneous reporting; that plea should not be treated as an admission of every detail in Bell’s account.
What Drake Bell said happened
In Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Bell described Peck tutoring him in dialogue and visiting Peck’s home. Bell said he woke to Peck sexually assaulting him. ABC News Australia reported Bell’s account and quoted him describing his reaction: “I froze. I was in shock. I didn’t know what to do.” ABC News Australia’s report identifies Bell as saying he was 15 at the time.
Bell’s identification was significant because the victim’s identity had remained secret publicly. CNN’s transcript says Bell disclosed that he was the plaintiff in the 2004 case. CNN’s transcript covers that disclosure.
Who was Brian Peck?
ABC News Australia described Peck as an actor and dialogue coach who worked on multiple Nickelodeon shows, including All That and The Amanda Show. In Bell’s account, Peck was his dialogue tutor. The documented professional connection and Bell’s account are distinct from the criminal case outcome; the plea was to two charges, not a public adjudication of every detail later recounted in the docuseries.

What happened in Peck’s criminal case?
ABC News Australia reported that Peck pleaded no contest in 2004 to two charges of child sexual abuse, was sentenced to 16 months in jail, and was required to register as a sex offender. CNN likewise reported that court records showed an arrest in 2003 and a 16-month sentence. A no-contest plea is the reported case disposition; it should not be described as Peck admitting every element of Bell’s later account.
ABC also reported, citing Business Insider, that 41 letters supported Peck at sentencing. That figure refers to letters, not 41 people endorsing abuse. ABC cautioned that it was unclear whether the letter writers knew the full extent of the crimes.

What Nickelodeon said
After Bell disclosed his identity, Nickelodeon said it was “dismayed and saddened to learn of the trauma he has endured” and commended and supported his strength in coming forward. The network also said it could not corroborate or negate allegations involving productions from decades earlier and that it investigates formal complaints. CNN attributed the statement to a network spokesperson. CNN’s transcript of the statement provides the wording and context.

Quiet on Set examined allegations and experiences involving multiple people and productions in children’s television. Those broader accounts should not be merged with Bell’s specific account or Peck’s case. The Associated Press reported that Dan Schneider filed a separate defamation suit against the documentary’s makers, alleging that the series wrongly implied he sexually abused child actors. Schneider’s suit is a distinct legal matter; it does not describe the charges against Peck or determine the truth of Bell’s account. The Associated Press report describes the separate dispute.
