What are the new Dragon Ball Super projects?
The January 2026 announcements describe two anime projects with different purposes and statuses. The official Dragon Ball site called Dragon Ball Super: Beerus an enhanced edition of the television anime. Separately, Toei Animation announced that Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is set for production.

What is Dragon Ball Super: Beerus?
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is not described as a new story continuation. The official Dragon Ball announcement says the project had been underway for several years and calls it a newly enhanced edition of the Dragon Ball Super anime. It lists extensive changes: new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, complete re-rendering of footage, newly recorded dubbing, added music and sound effects, and a reconstructed story.
The official Dragon Ball site’s September 2026 update gives the Japanese premiere as October 11, 2026, with broadcasting and streaming starting that month. The update does not name a streaming service or provide international distribution details, so availability outside Japan cannot be specified from that announcement.

What is The Galactic Patrol about?
Toei Animation says Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol follows the anime’s Universe Survival Arc and adapts the story associated with the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc in the manga. In the announced premise, Goku and Vegeta work with the Galactic Patrol against Moro. Toei describes the project as officially set for production; its announcement does not give a premiere date.
The manga is the source for the Galactic Patrol Prisoner storyline. Readers looking for that arc should use the manga’s arc and series details to identify an edition; the announcement itself does not specify a particular volume or edition.

Did Akira Toriyama personally confirm the projects?
No. The official announcements reviewed credit Akira Toriyama for creative work, including original work, story, and character design, but they do not say that he personally issued or made the confirmations. The accurate attribution is to the official Dragon Ball site for Beerus, Toei Animation for The Galactic Patrol, and Bandai Namco for AGE 1000.

No. Bandai Namco announced AGE 1000 as a separate Dragon Ball game project planned for 2027. The company said it will introduce a new Dragon Ball world and original characters, including one designed by Toriyama. It is not identified as a Dragon Ball Super anime project.
