- Penelope Wilton, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle and Kevin Doyle
- Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera and Douglas Reith
- Dominic West, returning as Guy Dexter

Who is new in Downton Abbey 3?
Five additions were specifically named in the announcement: Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan, alongside Giamatti’s return as Harold Levinson. The announcement identifies Giamatti’s character but does not name the characters played by the other four additions.
What is the story about?
Universal’s synopsis sets the story in the 1930s. Mary becomes the center of a public scandal as the Crawley family faces financial trouble and the possibility of social disgrace. Meanwhile, the household staff prepares for a new generation to take the lead at Downton Abbey. The premise brings family reputation, money and the estate’s changing future into the same story.

Who made the film, and when did it come out?
Focus Features and Carnival Films announced the third feature on May 13, 2024. Julian Fellowes wrote the screenplay and produced with Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. Simon Curtis returned to direct after Downton Abbey: A New Era. Carnival Films produced the film; Focus Features and Universal Pictures International handled distribution. Focus’s June 26, 2024 update said it was in production in the UK and announced a global theatrical date of September 12, 2025. That date is now historical, not a forthcoming release.

Universal lists the film for digital purchase or rental and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Its September 29, 2025 home-entertainment announcement said digital purchase and rental began September 30, 2025, and set November 11, 2025 as the US and Canadian street date for the physical editions. These dates describe the announced release schedule; they do not establish current retailer stock or subscription-streaming availability.

The September 29, 2025 press release gives a 2-hour-3-minute runtime for the disc versions, while its current film page lists 2 hours 4 minutes; the official listings differ by one minute.
