Don Lemon told Megyn Kelly “Go f— yourself” on his YouTube show on Feb. 24, 2025, after Kelly criticized Joy Reid following news that MSNBC’s The ReidOut was ending. Lemon called Kelly the “worst person on television” and used a phrase that echoed Kelly’s earlier attack on Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
What Megyn Kelly said about Joy Reid
Over the weekend before Feb. 25, Kelly posted on X about Reid and the end of The ReidOut. Referring to Reid’s past comments about “white women tears,” Kelly asked, “Who’s crying now, Joy?” and called Reid the “absolute worst person on television,” adding “Good riddance” to the program. The Daily Beast reproduced the post in its account of the exchange: The Daily Beast’s report.
Kelly also criticized NBC for allowing the program to continue. The Hill reported that she returned to the subject and elaborated on her criticism during her podcast on Monday.
How Don Lemon responded
On his YouTube show Monday, Feb. 24, Lemon argued that Kelly—not Reid—was the worst person on television. He criticized Kelly’s comments about Reid and invoked the controversy surrounding Kelly’s 2018 discussion of blackface Halloween costumes on Megyn Kelly Today. That is Lemon’s framing in the exchange, not an independent finding about Kelly’s character or motives. The Daily Beast, The Hill and Entertainment Weekly’s report carried by Yahoo covered his response.
#1 Best Overall
Lemon closed by telling Kelly, “Go f— yourself.” The Hill and Entertainment Weekly described the line as a deliberate echo of Kelly’s earlier “go f— yourselves” remark to Scarborough and Brzezinski. The insult was the closing line of Lemon’s segment, not a comment made during Kelly’s X post or podcast.

The immediate trigger was the news that The ReidOut was ending. The Hill reported that the program’s final episode aired Feb. 24 and that Reid was leaving MSNBC. The reports establish the timing and the public reaction; they do not establish MSNBC’s internal reason for ending the show. Kelly’s criticism and Lemon’s response should not be treated as evidence of the network’s rationale.
