Not the former Twitch Desktop App. Twitch deprecated that Windows and Mac viewing app on April 30, 2022. You can still watch Twitch on Windows at twitch.tv in a supported desktop browser. [Twitch] [Twitch Help]
What happened to the Twitch Windows app?
Twitch launched its desktop app for Windows and Mac in 2017 as a way to watch live streams and VODs, view clips, use chat, and access social features such as friends, calls, and servers. Twitch later added a notice to its announcement: “The Twitch Desktop App was deprecated on April 30, 2022.” That date applies to the former desktop viewing app, not to Twitch’s website or every Twitch product. How to watch Twitch on Windows now
Open twitch.tv in a supported desktop browser and sign in if you want to use account features. Twitch lists the following browser support for its desktop experience: [Twitch Help]
- The two latest versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
- The most recent version of Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Opera, and Opera GX.
Other browsers may work, but Twitch does not guarantee every feature or function in browsers outside its supported list. Browser support can change, so check Twitch’s support page for the current requirements.

If Twitch is not working properly in your browser
Twitch recommends updating the browser first. If the problem continues, try these steps: [Twitch Help]
- Update your browser to a supported version.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions and reload Twitch.
- If the issue remains, clear the browser’s cache and cookies, then try again.
Extensions can alter how Twitch looks and behaves, and may interfere with emotes, badges, chat, payment displays, or video playback. Disabling them temporarily can help identify whether an extension is causing the issue; it does not make an extension an official Twitch product. [Twitch Help]

Is Twitch Studio the Windows app?
No. Twitch Studio was a separate creator-facing application for broadcasting, not the old viewer app. Twitch announced that Twitch Studio support would end after May 30, 2024, so it should not be treated as a currently supported option. [Twitch] [Twitch]
Want to stream from Windows?
For broadcasting, consult Twitch’s broadcasting software guidance rather than looking for the discontinued desktop viewer app or Twitch Studio. Twitch’s listed options include OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, Talk Studio, Lightstream Studio, PRISM Live Studio Desktop, and Meld Studio; availability varies by operating system and license. Twitch directs creators to the Creator Dashboard for the latest supported list. [Twitch Help]
