It depends on what you are streaming. A prerecorded video that you have uploaded or selected and scheduled in OneStream Live is documented to start automatically at its scheduled time, so the computer used to set it up should not need to stay on afterward. That last point is an inference from OneStream Live’s documented workflow, not an explicit shutdown guarantee. A live feed sent from an encoder such as OBS is different: the computer running that encoder must stay on while it supplies the feed.
When your computer can be off
For a scheduled prerecorded broadcast, OneStream Live says selected prerecorded content can go live automatically at the chosen time. The documented setup lets you choose a video source, destination, stream details and schedule; the video may come from your device, OneStream storage, or cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox. Once the upload or selection and scheduling are complete, the setup computer should not need to remain on. This is an inference from the service’s workflow; its help page does not explicitly promise that streams continue after computer shutdown. When your computer must stay on
If you are sending a live camera, desktop, or other real-time feed through an external encoder such as OBS, that encoder is the source of the broadcast. OneStream Live’s encoder workflow has you configure a destination, copy its server URL and stream key, and connect those details to the encoder. If the encoder is running on the computer you turn off, it stops sending the live source. Keep that computer and encoder running for the duration of this kind of stream. This follows from the documented connection workflow, rather than from an explicit OneStream shutdown rule. OneStream Live describes prerecorded scheduling, external-encoder streaming, and a browser-based studio as separate ways to go live. The key question is whether you are asking the service to play a recording on a schedule or whether your computer is actively generating and sending a live feed. What the 24/7 option allows
OneStream Live’s documented 24/7 prerecorded-stream feature is for YouTube only, requires an Enterprise plan, and has a maximum duration of 30 days. Those limits apply to that feature; they should not be assumed to apply to every scheduled prerecorded broadcast.
