Yes, according to a January 10, 2020 report by Futurism: Mark Zuckerberg said in comments on a Facebook post about his New Year’s resolutions that he still hunted, mostly with a bow and arrow, and identified wild boar as an animal he hunted. A later podcast transcript adds that he owns a compound bow, but neither source establishes the details of a particular hunt or identifies the bow’s make or model.
What Zuckerberg said about hunting wild boar
Futurism reported that Zuckerberg made the comments on a Facebook post about his 2020 New Year’s resolutions. The article quoted him saying, “These days mostly with a bow and arrow though.” Asked what animals he hunted, he answered, “wild boar.” These statements are attributed to the Facebook post by Futurism’s Victor Tangermann, in a report published January 10, 2020. The original post is not independently verified here, so the claim is best understood as Futurism’s report of his comments.
What is known about his bow
A later transcript of The Joe Rogan Experience records Zuckerberg saying he has a compound bow and that there are boars on his ranch. He describes his archery as casual and does not recall who made the bow. The transcript supports the general equipment category, not a brand or model, and it does not establish that a particular hunt took place on the ranch. See the Happy Scribe transcript of episode 2255.
Earlier comments about hunting and food
A 2016 report also quoted Zuckerberg discussing hunting boar and the connection between hunting, cooking, and knowing where meat comes from. In that account, he said, “I feel like if you’re going to eat meat, then you should get to know where it comes from.” The report said he had begun hunting “four or five years” earlier; that is historical context, not evidence of how often he hunts now or what he currently eats. What the reports do not establish
- They do not identify when, where, or under what circumstances a specific wild-boar hunt occurred.
- They do not name the bow’s maker or model.
- The later mention of boars on his ranch does not prove that the 2020-reported hunt happened there.
