Who is Preston Clyburn?
Preston is Stacy Clyburn’s husband and the patriarch of the Clyburn family. Matthew Fox plays his brother, Paul. Paramount describes The Madison as a family drama and love story following the Clyburns between Manhattan and Montana’s Madison River valley, with grief, human connection, resilience and transformation at its center. What happens after Preston’s death?
In its post-finale report, TV Insider says the surviving Clyburns return to Manhattan after Preston and Paul die. Stacy later goes back to Montana alone, and her family reports her missing. She is found beside Preston’s grave. The report says Pfeiffer and Russell discussed whether Stacy and the family can survive what has happened; season two had already been filmed by the time of that interview.
That makes Preston’s death a turning point, not an unresolved tease. The continuing story follows the people left behind and how they confront loss. The official series description emphasizes the family’s resilience and transformation, while TV Insider’s finale coverage identifies Stacy’s wellbeing and the family’s future as major concerns going into season two.

When did season one air, and will the story continue?
The six-episode first season premiered globally on Paramount+ on March 14, 2026, in two batches: episodes one through three arrived March 14, and the final three followed March 21. Paramount’s episode guide dates the finale, “I Give Me Permission,” to March 21, 2026. See the official episode guide.
Paramount lists The Madison as renewed for seasons two and three. No season-two premiere date is stated in the cited official materials. The series is presented as a Paramount+ Original; availability may differ by territory. Check Paramount+ for viewing information.

Paramount Press Express reported on March 26, 2026, that The Madison had the service’s biggest debut-season launch, with eight million global views.
