Is Howard Stern still on SiriusXM?
Yes. SiriusXM announced on August 31, 2026, that new live shows would air every Monday beginning September 14, with an adapted, streamable episode arriving on HBO Max on September 17 and subsequent episodes on Thursdays. The company said the exclusive live show would continue through 2028. SiriusXM’s announcement describes the live program as available to subscribers in their cars, on phones and on connected devices through its app.

SiriusXM’s Howard 100 channel page calls the channel the exclusive home of the show and lists weekday programming starting at 7 a.m. ET, with replays around the clock. The schedule and distribution details are not audience measurements.
How many people listen to Howard Stern now?
The public company figures do not answer that program-specific question. Sirius XM Holdings reported approximately 32.9 million U.S. subscribers as of December 31, 2025, and approximately 170 million combined monthly listeners across its businesses. Both are company-level measures, not the number of people listening to The Howard Stern Show. The company’s 2025 Form 10-K does not provide a current show-specific audience figure.

The company’s full-year 2025 results likewise describe roughly 33 million subscribers at year end and announce a three-year renewal with Stern, but do not disclose the show’s ratings. A renewal may indicate the company intends to keep distributing the program; it does not establish how large its audience is.
Why “high ratings” is difficult to verify
Ratings depend on a defined measure, platform, geography and time period. Nielsen’s public topline radio page describes estimates for stations in surveyed markets and says full reported station estimates are available to Radio Market Report subscribers. It does not publish a current rating for the Howard Stern Show.

- HBO Max viewing would be a separate streaming measure. The announcement of an adaptation is not a viewing result.
The absence of a public figure does not prove SiriusXM lacks private audience data. It means the public materials cited here do not provide the comparable, current show-level number needed to substantiate a claim of high ratings.
How today’s audience compares with Stern’s radio peak
The Associated Press reported in 2025 that the show, at its terrestrial-radio peak, was syndicated in 60 markets and drew more than 20 million listeners. That historical account offers context for the show’s earlier reach, not a current ratings figure. The platform, era and measurement basis differ, so the peak-era number should not be compared directly with today’s SiriusXM subscriber or company-wide audience totals.

What the renewal and HBO Max adaptation show
Stern said in December 2025, “I’m happy to announce that I’ve figured out a way to have it all: more free time and continuing to be on the radio. So, yes, we’re coming back for three years.” SiriusXM’s renewal announcement also quoted its president and chief content officer, Scott Greenstein, praising Stern’s new season. Those are statements about the continuation of the relationship and the company’s view of the program—not independent audience measurements.
The move to make adapted episodes available on HBO Max adds another distribution channel. Whether that expansion draws a large audience can only be answered with published viewing or listening figures; the announcement itself supplies none.
