What plane is Angelina Jolie associated with?
AeroCorner’s June 26, 2026 article identifies Jolie’s aircraft as a Cirrus SR22-G2 and says she earned a pilot’s licence in 2004 or 2005. It describes the SR22-G2 as a single-engine piston aircraft and explicitly distinguishes it from a turbine-powered private jet. These are secondary-source claims, not confirmation of present ownership in an FAA record. AeroCorner’s account is therefore best read as a report about an aircraft associated with Jolie, not proof that she currently owns it.
The distinction matters: “private aircraft” can mean a privately operated plane, while “private jet” ordinarily refers to a jet-powered aircraft. A propeller plane such as the SR22 is not a jet.
Where did the private-jet claim come from?
In July 2013, India Today reported that Brad Pitt had bought Jolie a private jet. The story attributed the claim to an unnamed source speaking to Heat magazine; it did not give a verifiable aircraft model or establish who owned an aircraft at the time of publication. Does a private-aircraft sighting prove ownership?
No. A photograph of a celebrity boarding or leaving an aircraft can show a moment of travel; it does not establish who owns the plane, whether the celebrity was aboard on another tracked flight, or whether the aircraft was chartered, leased, or shared.
Aircraft attribution can involve several kinds of evidence. In a September 2026 account of Los Angeles County’s efforts to collect aircraft taxes, the Los Angeles Times described using public records and JetSpy. JetSpy’s spokesperson said its methods combine public and private databases, aircraft filings, transmissions, and flight-pattern analysis. That may help reporters connect an aircraft to a person or organization, but it is not direct proof of beneficial ownership or of a named passenger on a particular flight. Celebrity-aircraft roundups can be useful starting points, but their labels need checking. CRAFT says its roundup links reported aircraft types to source reports, excludes people reported only to charter, lease, or hold fractional shares, and uses illustrations that are not photographs of the named people’s actual aircraft. How to check an aircraft claim
- Look for an aircraft identifier. A model name or photograph alone may not distinguish a specific aircraft. An FAA N-number or serial number can make a registry inquiry more precise.
- Search the FAA Aircraft Inquiry. The FAA page supports searches by N-number, serial number, name, make/model, engine, and other fields. FAA Aircraft Inquiry
- Read the ownership result narrowly. The FAA says owners may request that certain personally identifying details be withheld from the publicly available site. Aircraft can also be registered to a company or trust, so the public registry is not necessarily a complete picture of beneficial ownership.
- Check the record’s timing. The FAA says registry data is updated each federal working day. A search reflects the data available then; it does not, by itself, settle an older media claim or establish who travelled on a specific flight.
- Separate the claim types. Ask whether the source establishes ownership, operation or piloting, association with an aircraft, or presence aboard on one particular trip. Those are different claims and need different evidence.
What about the 14 other celebrities?
The sources available for this article do not establish the 14 names implied by the original headline. Rather than supply an unsourced list, it is more accurate to check each celebrity claim against dated reporting and to distinguish outright ownership from chartering, leasing, and fractional use. A celebrity’s appearance near a plane—or a tracker’s attribution of a flight—does not by itself show that the person owns the aircraft or was a passenger.

What a fashion photograph can—and cannot—show
British Vogue’s August 14, 2024 article described Jolie disembarking a private jet in a black dress, double-breasted overcoat, and platform suede sandals. That supports a travel-style description of the sighting; it does not establish ownership of the aircraft. British Vogue, August 14, 2024
