Do contestants on Alone actually get paid? For the U.S. edition, the winner of Season 10 received a documented $500,000 cash prize. Public sources reviewed do not establish whether contestants who do not win receive a stipend, appearance fee, or other payment. That means it is not accurate to claim either that every contestant is paid or that non-winners receive nothing.
What payment is confirmed for the U.S. edition?
Corus Entertainment reported in 2023 that U.S. Season 10 winner Alan Tenta took home a $500,000 USD cash prize after outlasting nine competitors. Corus Entertainment’s announcement describes a prize for the winner, not a salary or a general payment schedule for the cast.

HISTORY supervising producer Jeffrey Rodriguez likewise referred to the $500,000 prize when discussing contestants’ motivations: “They may think it’s the $500,000 prize but end up realizing it’s something much more profound.” The HISTORY interview offers context about the prize, but does not say how much non-winners are paid.
Do non-winners receive a stipend or appearance fee?
The public sources cited here do not confirm a standard stipend, per-episode rate, appearance fee, or other payment for contestants who do not win. They also do not establish that non-winners receive zero. Without a published contract or a verifiable statement from someone with direct knowledge of the terms, specific claims about weekly pay should be treated as unverified.
#1 Best Overall
The same applies to questions about whether the runner-up receives a separate cash award: the sources above confirm the Season 10 winner’s prize but do not set out payments to the other contestants.
Is travel or safety support the same as being paid?
No. A Channel 4 cast Q&A about the UK edition discusses flights and a safety team as production logistics. Those arrangements are not evidence of wages or a stipend. The interviewee also said, “I know there is prize money, but to be honest I didn’t actually know that when I agreed to go on the show.” The excerpt does not identify the speaker, so the comment should not be attributed to a named contestant. See Channel 4’s cast Q&A.

Why the country and season matter
Alone has editions in different countries, and the available sources do not show that their compensation terms are identical. The $500,000 figure belongs to the U.S. franchise’s Season 10 winner; the Channel 4 Q&A concerns the UK edition. Neither source establishes pay terms for every season, edition, or special format, so a claim about one should not be generalized to the others.
