Long-Platt told TMZ that Anthony Leonard Platt, known professionally as DJ Unk, died in his sleep after a heart attack, according to the Los Angeles Times. WSB-TV’s January 28 report also said she described the cause as a heart attack when speaking to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Long-Platt also rejected speculation that drugs were involved, the outlets reported. That is her denial, not a reported toxicology result. Neither article presents an independent medical determination.

Platt died on January 24, 2025, at age 43, the Los Angeles Times reported. Long-Platt announced his death on Facebook that day. She later spoke to TMZ on January 26, before the Times published its account on January 27 and WSB-TV published its report on January 28.

Who was DJ Unk?
DJ Unk was an Atlanta artist best known for the dance tracks “Walk It Out” and “2 Step.” The Los Angeles Times reported that he began his music career in the late 1990s, signed with Big Oomp Records in 2000, and released “Walk It Out” in 2006. The song climbed several Billboard charts, and “2 Step” was another single released that year.
