What Disney posted—and what happened next
On January 17, 2026, The Verge reported that Disney’s official Threads account had asked users: “Share a Disney quote that sums up how you’re feeling right now!” The Verge’s account of the post says users responded with lines from Star Wars, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mary Poppins, after which Disney quickly deleted it.

Gabrielle Blair, posting contemporaneously on January 17, recorded the prompt with a hashtag—“Share a #Disney quote that sums up how you’re feeling right now!”—and said the original post was quietly removed the next day. The two quoted versions differ, so they should not be combined as though they were identical. Blair’s post provides that wording and timing.
Which movie replies were reported?
The Verge named the three franchises above. A January 18 report by GIGAZINE described additional examples attributed to users’ replies: a Toy Story 3 Barbie line about power deriving from the consent of the governed, a line from Pocahontas, a scene from The Sound of Music, and a line from The Little Mermaid. GIGAZINE’s report says a Threads user recorded the post and replies.

The reports do not provide a verified reply count or engagement figures. They also do not establish whether the recording includes every reply or is still available.
Why were the replies called anti-fascist?
The political interpretation came from The Verge, not from Disney. Weekend Editor Terrence O’Brien described the throughline as “pretty pointedly anti-fascist and clearly aimed at the current administration.” That is the reporter’s characterization of the replies; the available coverage does not show Disney endorsing that interpretation.

Why did Disney delete the post?
No explanation from Disney is established in the cited coverage. The Verge speculated about the company’s motives but did not cite an official explanation, and GIGAZINE also reported that the reason was unknown. The reported sequence is clear—prompt, replies, removal—but the reason for removal is not.
