Disney Castaway Cay is laid out from the ship’s dock toward Castaway Family Beach and recreation areas, with adults-only Serenity Bay farther away. The ship docks at the island, and Disney says frequent trams help guests get around. For the latest map labels and operating details, check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and your sailing-day information.
How to read the Castaway Cay map
Start at the dock, where guests arrive directly from the ship. From there, the map is easiest to understand as a sequence of zones: the arrival area, family beach and recreation, youth activity areas, and the more distant adults-only beach.
Dock and arrival area
The dock is the island’s entry point. Disney’s destination information also identifies a post office near the dock, along with shops and rental locations. Look at the current app map for exact placement and labels.
Castaway Family Beach and recreation
The family area includes Castaway Family Beach and several recreation features. Disney’s pocket guide labels In Da Shade Game Pavilion, Sports Beach, Pelican Plunge, Spring-a-Leak, a swimming area, a snorkeling lagoon, and the self-paced 5K route. Pelican Plunge is a water-play feature; check the current app for its operating status and any day-of changes.

Youth areas and Serenity Bay
Youth offerings named on Disney’s destination page include Teen Beach, accessed via Teen Hideout, and Scuttles Cove. Serenity Bay is the adults-only beach farther from the main family area. Confirm age-access details and current activity availability in Disney’s app or official sailing information.
Why Castaway Cay maps may show different names
Map versions and stop labels can differ. A January 4, 2025 planDisney response to a question about “Pelican Point” versus “Palm Central Station” directed the guest to the Navigator app map. Treat older map labels as potentially outdated rather than assuming either name is current; use the map displayed for your sailing.
Disney’s map-oriented pocket guide is useful for identifying beaches and activities, but the current Navigator app is the better reference for present-day labels and operational details. Disney’s official Castaway Cay destination page and Castaway Cay FAQ provide visitor information.
Getting around: tram, walking and accessibility
Disney says the ship docks directly at Castaway Cay, so guests walk off the ship onto the island, and frequent tram service is available to help them get around. Walking is another option; choose based on your destination and mobility needs rather than assuming every area is equally close to the dock.

Disney’s accessibility guide, dated December 2023, describes paved pathways serving many promenade facilities and hard-packed sand paths to some other locations. It says personal and electric wheelchairs can board the tram, but sand wheelchairs cannot. The guide also notes that a limited number of sand wheelchairs are available at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis, and that they are not designed for use in water. The guide lists accessible restroom locations. Because this information is from 2023, confirm current availability and arrangements with Guest Services or Disney’s current accessibility guidance before sailing.
What is included in the cruise fare—and what is extra
Disney lists a range of beach-day basics and activities as included in the cruise fare. Other experiences require an additional charge or reservation, and availability can vary by sailing.
| Included, according to Disney | Additional charge or reservation |
|---|---|
| Beach access; lounge chairs, umbrellas and towels; BBQ buffets; soft-serve ice cream; drink stations; Pelican Plunge; youth activities; character meet-and-greets; beach games; and the self-paced 5K. | Specialty drinks, equipment rentals, merchandise, cabanas and Port Adventures. |
Check Disney’s current booking information for what is offered on your sailing and whether an activity or rental needs advance booking. The Castaway Cay FAQ is the official reference for inclusions and visitor planning.

Disney’s FAQ says guests aged 18 or older should bring a passport or government-issued photo ID to go ashore and reboard. It identifies drones, personal wagons, flotation devices and fishing gear as prohibited items. These are examples, not the complete restricted-items list; check Disney’s full prohibited and restricted items information and current requirements before disembarking.
