Perth’s Dîner en Blanc reached its tenth local edition on 8 November 2025, returning to Elizabeth Quay, where the city’s first event was held in 2016. Local host Caroline James said the international organisation regarded Perth as a global standout—but the claim is her reported account, not a published global ranking or independent comparison.
What is Dîner en Blanc Perth?
Dîner en Blanc is an all-white, self-catered picnic event. Perth began hosting it in 2016, when hundreds of guests gathered at Elizabeth Quay. The City of Perth’s committee minutes from 1 December 2015 described the planned format as a mass picnic at a secret location, with guests bringing food and furniture unless they had pre-ordered items. That is a description of the launch format, not confirmation that every detail remained the same in later years.
PerthNow reported that local hosts had welcomed 15,000 guests over the event’s history by 2025. That is a reported cumulative figure; no underlying attendance ledger is cited in the report.
How Perth’s event moved around the city
After its first gathering at Elizabeth Quay, the event used a different prominent site in each of the following years through 2024, according to PerthNow.

The international organiser said 2025 was the first year it introduced a shared global theme: “Blooming Elegance,” inspired by flowers, fashion, design, gastronomy and atmosphere. The theme was part of the broader event framing; the sources do not describe specific Perth installations or programming in enough detail to assess how it was expressed locally.
Why did organisers call Perth a global standout?
PerthNow quoted local host Caroline James, director of Atelier Events, describing what she said was the international organisation’s view: “Diner en Blanc International has recognised Perth as hosting the standout Diner en Blanc event globally — they’ve even described it as the best produced worldwide,”

The statement is notable as a local organiser’s account of international recognition, but it should not be read as an independently verified ranking. The cited coverage does not provide a public award citation, a formal ranking, or a comparative production assessment from the international organisation itself.
James also recalled the Optus Stadium edition: “Hosting at Optus Stadium was particularly memorable – it’s not every day you see 2000 people dressed in white dining together on the turf!” PerthNow attributes that memory to her; it is not a verified attendance count for the event.
