Rolling Stone’s May 30, 2024, investigation, “Bad Boy for Life: Sean Combs’ History of Violence,” collected accounts from former friends, employees, Bad Boy artists and other industry contacts who described alleged abuse and violence by Sean “Diddy” Combs. Those accounts are not, as a group, judicial findings. Later civil and criminal proceedings added evidence and testimony in specific cases, but they do not turn every account in the 2024 article into a proven fact.
What did the Rolling Stone investigation report?
Written by Cheyenne Roundtree and Nancy Dillon, the investigation presented accounts from people who had known or worked with Combs, including former associates and Bad Boy artists. The article described allegations of violence and abusive conduct, but each account belongs to its own speaker, incident and context; it should not be treated as one collective accusation or as proof that every reported event occurred.

Rolling Stone said its reporting lasted six months. It contacted more than 300 people and heard from more than 50 willing sources. The publication also noted that some sources spoke off the record and some requested compensation. Those details describe how the investigation was reported; they do not establish the truth or prevalence of any allegation.
What did Cassie Ventura allege, and what was Combs’s response?
Rolling Stone’s account of Ventura’s November 2023 civil complaint says she alleged years of abuse and sexual violence. The parties settled within 24 hours. A settlement resolves a dispute between the parties; by itself, it is not a court finding that the allegations were true.

- Greatest Hits is a 1988 compilation album by British-American band Fleetwood Mac. It covers the period of the band's greatest commercial success, from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s. The track listing for the US release differs slightly from that of other territories. It includes the 1975 track "Over My Head" but omits the 1987 track "Seven Wonders."
The article reported that Combs denied the other allegations and took responsibility for the assault shown in hotel surveillance footage. That reported acknowledgment concerns the footage; it should not be extended to allegations that were not adjudicated.
What did witnesses say in the later trial?
Associated Press coverage of the 2025 trial recounts testimony from Ventura and former Bad Boy artist Dawn Richard. Testimony is evidence presented in court, not automatically a verdict on every claim made by a witness.

Richard’s account was challenged by Combs’s defense. AP reported that the defense argued her account was inconsistent and that her lawsuit gave her a motive to testify against him. Those were defense arguments reported during the proceedings, not independent findings that her testimony was false.
What legal outcomes are established?
AP reported that Combs was sentenced in October 2025 to four years and two months for prostitution-related convictions. That sentence is a distinct legal outcome; it does not establish every allegation described in Rolling Stone’s 2024 investigation.
Rank #3
In April 2026, AP reported that appeals judges questioned the severity of the sentence during oral argument. That report does not establish the appeal’s final disposition. The reporting cited here does not confirm a later appellate ruling.

The most important distinction is the status of each claim. An interview account in a magazine investigation, an allegation in a civil complaint, sworn trial testimony, a defense challenge, and a criminal conviction are different kinds of information. A finding in one proceeding does not automatically decide a separate allegation.
Rank #4
- Rolling Stone’s 2024 investigation: reported interviews and allegations attributed to people the publication spoke with.
- Ventura’s civil complaint: allegations followed by a settlement, not a court ruling on their truth.
- 2025 trial coverage: testimony and cross-examination reported by AP, including the defense’s challenge to Richard’s account.
- Criminal sentence: AP’s report of a sentence for prostitution-related convictions, separate from the broader set of allegations in the investigation.
The Washington Post’s September 2024 historical account places earlier public allegations in the context of Bad Boy and 1990s hip-hop. Its distinctions among accusations, arrests, charges and case outcomes matter: those terms describe different stages and results, not interchangeable proof of wrongdoing.
