Will Friedle has been quoted saying he wrote and sold Disney a Winnie-the-Pooh movie while he was appearing on Boy Meets World. The available sources do not identify the project or establish that he received no credit. They also do not connect him to Disney’s 2011 feature Winnie the Pooh.
What Will Friedle said about a Winnie-the-Pooh movie
A search excerpt for My New Orleans’ interview with Will Friedle attributes this statement to the actor: “When I was actually on ‘Boy Meets World,’ I wrote a Winnie the Pooh movie for Disney and sold it.” The interview page was not accessible for verification, and the excerpt does not provide the project’s title, a publication date, or fuller context.
That supports a carefully limited account: Friedle has been quoted describing a Pooh movie that he says he wrote and sold to Disney. It does not establish which project he meant, whether it was produced, or what credit he received.
Was it Disney’s 2011 film?
There is no evidence in the cited sources tying Friedle’s anecdote to the 2011 animated feature Winnie the Pooh. Disney’s official film page identifies that movie as a 2011 release, directed by Steve Anderson and Don Hall. The AFI Catalog entry also records the film, but does not connect Friedle to it.

The shared title is not enough to identify the project. Without a source naming the film Friedle described or documenting his involvement in the 2011 feature, it would be inaccurate to say that he wrote that movie.
What about the Eric Matthews spin-off?
A separate, more fully documented pitch involved television, not a feature film. In a TVLine report published March 28, 2023, Friedle described a proposed Boy Meets World spin-off that would move Eric Matthews to Los Angeles.

Friedle said he took part in the pitches, while crediting creator Michael Jacobs with doing most of the pitching. He recalled that they met with ABC and Disney and that Jacobs had a pilot prepared. The proposed series did not proceed; Friedle told TVLine he did not know why. The report does not establish a connection between this television idea and his separate Pooh-movie anecdote.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the evidence show that Friedle got no credit?
No. The available sources do not substantiate a claim that Friedle pitched a released major Disney movie and received no credit. The interview excerpt supports his account of writing and selling an unnamed Pooh project, but says nothing about its credits. Disney’s page and AFI’s catalog identify the 2011 film without linking him to it, and TVLine’s story concerns an unproduced television spin-off.
