No published report available for this story records a reaction from Tom Brady to Birmingham City supporters’ tribute to chairman Tom Wagner. What is documented is a tribute at Birmingham’s FA Cup tie with Leeds United on 15 February 2026, along with supporter plans reported before that match. Brady does appear in Birmingham coverage, but from a different Birmingham and Leeds game in August 2023, and that coverage predates the tribute by more than two years.
What the reporting shows about Brady
The only Brady mention found in Birmingham coverage places him at a match, not at the tribute. BBC Sport reported on 14 August 2023 that Tom Wagner and Tom Brady attended Birmingham City’s 1–0 win over Leeds, and the piece covered the owners’ ambitions for the club. It says nothing about a later tribute and does not record Brady commenting on the club’s supporters.
No social-media post, interview or statement from Brady about the February 2026 tribute appears in the reports checked. If a post or clip exists, it has not been located in the coverage available here, so any account of what Brady said or did would be speculation. Readers who saw a claim to the contrary should look for the original post or video and check its date and account before sharing it.
The tribute to Tom Wagner, 15 February 2026
Birmingham City drew 1–1 with Leeds after extra time in the FA Cup tie at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, then lost 4–2 on penalties, according to Blues Focus. The same report says supporters displayed a tifo wishing chairman Tom Wagner a speedy recovery from a stroke, and that the crowd applauded in the 13th minute. Blues Focus connected the 13th-minute applause to Wagner’s lucky number. That link is the outlet’s reading; the report is the only source found for it.

- Authentic fan scarf, as worn by Blues supporters at St Andrew's and everywhere | A great gift idea for the Birmingham City fan or the Blues believer in your life!
Before the match, the BCFC Fanzine reported on 10 February 2026 that supporters were planning a banner and charity fundraising in Wagner’s name for an upcoming Leeds match. That piece is supporter media describing plans. It does not confirm that every planned element was carried out, so the tifo and applause are the parts the match coverage itself describes.
Why the two Birmingham–Leeds tributes get confused
Birmingham and Leeds have produced two tributes in recent meetings, and they honour different people. The table below sets out the differences.
| Detail | 12 August 2023 | 15 February 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Birmingham result | Won 1–0 (Lukas Jutkiewicz, late penalty) | Drew 1–1 after extra time, lost 4–2 on penalties |
| Occasion | Not stated in the BBC Sport report cited | FA Cup tie at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park |
| Tribute honouree | Birmingham legend Trevor Francis | Chairman Tom Wagner, recovering from a stroke |
| Form of tribute | Pre-match tribute led by Jasper Carrott (BBC Sport) | Supporters’ tifo and 13th-minute applause (Blues Focus) |
| Source | BBC Sport, 12 August 2023 | Blues Focus, 15 February 2026; BCFC Fanzine planning report, 10 February 2026 |
The 2023 tribute was for Trevor Francis, and manager John Eustace dedicated the winning goal to him. He said: “We dedicate that winner to Trevor Francis and his family.” Eustace’s words, quoted by BBC Sport on 12 August 2023, refer to Francis and have no connection to Wagner.

Wagner’s 2023 remarks, for context
When BBC Sport covered the 2023 match on 14 August, Wagner spoke about the club’s direction. He said: “We know what we want to achieve,” and added: “But we’re not putting a time frame on our objectives.” These comments predate the 2026 tribute and say nothing about it, but they are the most direct words from Wagner in the coverage found here.

- Find the original post, video or article. A headline is not evidence of what a named person said.
- Check the date. The 2023 Birmingham–Leeds match and the 2026 FA Cup tie are separate events with separate tributes.
- Look for the honouree’s name in the report. A tribute to Trevor Francis in 2023 and one to Tom Wagner in 2026 can appear in similar stories.
- Treat supporter-media plans as plans. Confirm them against match reports before describing them as completed.
- Check whether a named person’s reaction is attributed to a verifiable account. An uncredited quote or screenshot should not be treated as a statement.
The Tom Wagner tribute is a documented supporter gesture, and it deserves to be reported on its own terms. Brady’s reaction to it is not established by the reporting found for this story.
