There is no official evidence that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4’s announcement drew more attention than Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2. What the official record does show is a timeline: Slime Season 4 was announced in September 2024, Frieren Season 2 aired in January 2026, and Slime Season 4 followed in the April and July 2026 programming seasons.
When was Slime Season 4 announced?
The official That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime portal records the fourth television season announcement in September 2024. The announcement preceded the season’s broadcast by more than a year. The portal’s later schedule notice lists a third cour for July 2027, so the original announcement and the eventual broadcast plan are separate milestones.
When did Frieren Season 2 air?
Nippon TV Holdings’ February 5, 2026 corporate presentation placed Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 in the January 2026 season. In the same lineup, it placed Slime Season 4 in the April and July seasons, with Slime beginning April 3 at 11 p.m. on Fridays in Japan. These are different seasonal positions, not evidence that the shows competed for the same time slot. Nippon TV Holdings’ February 2026 presentation describes Frieren as a story in which “Frieren resumes her journey to understand humanity”; that is the broadcaster’s promotional wording.
What happened after the two 2026 broadcast windows?
The official Frieren anime news page moved on to a Season 3 broadcast announcement dated March 27, 2026. It later posted a correction notice for the booklet included with Season 2 Blu-ray and DVD volume one. The page’s updates establish that the franchise had advanced beyond the Season 2 broadcast, but they do not compare how much attention either series received. Frieren official anime news

Did Slime Season 4’s announcement overshadow Frieren Season 2?
“Overshadowed” is a claim about attention, not scheduling. The official materials establish announcement dates, broadcast placement, and later franchise updates; they do not provide comparable audience figures, search-interest rankings, press-coverage totals, or other measures of attention. On this evidence, it is fair to say that Slime’s Season 4 announcement came well before its 2026 broadcast and Frieren’s second season. It is not possible to conclude that the announcement eclipsed Frieren’s season in public interest.

Frieren Season 2 has a home-video release path: its official news page lists a Blu-ray/DVD volume-one booklet correction. Availability, edition, region compatibility, and stock depend on the specific release and retailer, so check the listing before buying. The Tensura portal also links to official comic, novel, and goods sections; consult the relevant edition details rather than assuming which printed volume corresponds to a particular cour.
