The credit means Swift was a co-writer, not the song’s sole writer. Harris described his own part in the song’s creation in a public statement reported by Pitchfork on the same day: “I wrote the music, produced the song, arranged it and cut the vocals though. And initially she wanted it kept secret, hence the pseudonym.”
What did Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris each contribute?
The available account distinguishes Swift’s songwriting contribution from Harris’s description of his musical and production work. Harris said he wrote the music and produced and arranged the song, as well as recording the vocals. He also said Swift “sings on a little bit of it too.”

That small vocal contribution does not make Swift the lead vocalist on the released recording: Rihanna performs the released track. Teen Vogue also reported the representative’s confirmation of Swift’s songwriting credit and Harris’s confirmation of her vocal contribution.
Why was Swift credited under a pseudonym?
Harris said Swift initially wanted her involvement kept secret, which is why the pseudonym was used. Contemporary reporting also relayed that the pair wanted to keep their relationship from overshadowing the song, but that explanation was reported context rather than a separately established first-person account.
