It does not identify the scorer, so the caption alone does not establish that they were reacting to a Travis Kelce touchdown.
Which game does the celebration show?
The caption places Swift and Brittany Mahomes at the Chiefs–Chargers game on October 22, 2023, and says the celebration happened in the second quarter. It describes the moment as a reaction to “a touchdown,” without naming the player or identifying the play. The Chargers’ official scoring summary confirms the game and its scoring sequence.
Was it Travis Kelce’s touchdown?
The scoring summary lists a second-quarter touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. It records Kelce’s touchdown later in the game. Because the CBS caption does not name the scorer or provide a play-level timestamp, the available information does not show which scoring play Swift and Mahomes were celebrating. It is not accurate to identify the pictured reaction as a celebration of Kelce’s touchdown based on that caption alone. CBS’s caption and the official scoring log establish the game context, but not the exact play.
A separate, confirmed Swift reaction to a Kelce touchdown
Swift did celebrate a Kelce touchdown at a different Chiefs game: Kansas City’s September 24, 2023 matchup with the Chicago Bears. The Chiefs’ official highlight describes Patrick Mahomes throwing Kelce a second-quarter touchdown that put Kansas City on the board. The Associated Press also reported that Swift cheered and celebrated after Kelce’s touchdown in the Chiefs’ 41–10 win over Chicago. That documented Bears moment should not be conflated with the less specifically identified Chargers caption.

Why the distinction matters
Celebrity game-day photos and captions can become shorthand for a particular play, but the caption here supports only a narrower statement: Swift and Brittany Mahomes were shown celebrating a touchdown during the second quarter of Chiefs–Chargers. The scoring log makes the ambiguity consequential because it records a Mahomes-to-Valdes-Scantling touchdown in that quarter and Kelce’s score later. Without a timestamp or direct clip matching the image to the play, the exact trigger remains unconfirmed.
The broader Swift–Kelce attention also produced a notable merchandise headline in 2023. NFL.com reported that Kelce jersey sales rose nearly 400% following Swift’s first appearance at Arrowhead, and that Fanatics ranked him among its top five NFL player sellers on the Sunday of that appearance. Those are historical figures reported in 2023, not a measure of current sales. NFL.com’s report attributes the sales information to Fanatics.
