On 6 December 2023, PerthNow reported speculation after Mary shared an Instagram Story that read, “He’s all yours ladies. Hope the grass is greener for you @luketoki”. The outlet also cited reported social-media activity and Luke’s apparent absence from a graduation event for one of their sons. These were clues the outlet connected to a possible split, not confirmation from either spouse. PerthNow’s 6 December report framed the separation as reported.

On 14 December 2023, PerthNow reported that Luke and Mary appeared together in an Instagram post at their son’s graduation and that Mary had re-followed Luke.
