Scott Shriner performed with Weezer at Coachella on April 12, 2025, four days after his wife, author Jillian Lauren Shriner, was shot and injured by Los Angeles police and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The performance is confirmed; the allegations and investigation involving Lauren were unresolved in the April 2025 reporting summarized here.
Did Scott Shriner perform at Coachella?
Yes. Weezer played the Mojave tent on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The Associated Press confirmed Shriner’s appearance after the performance, as did the Los Angeles Times. Advance coverage had reported that he remained set to perform; the concert itself settled the question. AP’s account reported a 12-song set, while the Times described an overflow audience of several thousand.
What Weezer played and said onstage
The set included “Undone (The Sweater Song),” “Buddy Holly” and a cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” according to AP. The Times also named “Hash Pipe,” “Perfect Situation,” “Surf Wax America” and “Say It Ain’t So.” Neither report said the band addressed the incident involving Lauren during the performance.
AP quoted frontman Rivers Cuomo telling the crowd, “It feels so good to get out here with you guys and let out these emotions.” The report did not connect the remark to the arrest, so it should not be read as a comment about it.

The Times also reported Shriner’s “See you at Coachella!” remark, quoting it secondhand from the New York Post; it was not an independently verified quotation by the Times.
What happened before the concert
On April 8, 2025, LAPD officers were searching in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, for three people suspected in a misdemeanor hit-and-run. AP reported that Lauren was not one of those suspects. Police encountered her near a neighboring residence, shot and wounded her, and described her injuries as non-life-threatening. AP’s initial report covered the incident and arrest.

Lauren was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released after posting $1 million bond, AP reported. On April 10, LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar said available evidence, including body-camera footage, did not make clear whether Lauren had fired a gun. AP also reported that prosecutors had made no immediate decision on charges. These were allegations and an unresolved investigation, not a conviction or a proven account of her actions. AP reported no indication that Scott Shriner was involved.
What is known about the case afterward?
On April 26, AP reported that LAPD had released excerpts from body-camera recordings, surveillance video and 911 dispatch audio. That report described Lauren as released on bond pending further investigation and noted a scheduled April 30 court appearance. It does not establish the eventual legal disposition. The sources cited here do not establish a later outcome, so the April 2025 status should not be treated as current or final.

How the Coachella question changed
Before the festival, the question was whether Shriner would still take the stage. On April 11, Rolling Stone reported, citing a source close to the band, that he remained set to perform; the story described Weezer as a late lineup addition replacing FKA Twigs. Rolling Stone’s advance report captured that expectation. After Weezer played on April 12, AP and the Times confirmed that he had performed.
