That report does not show that Netflix launched a general editing feature or announced a policy of routinely revising its catalogue. Netflix viewers can hide titles from their own viewing history, but that does not change the program.
What the report says the Duffers changed
On July 28, 2022, Futurism’s Maggie Harrison Dupré reported that the Duffer brothers had discussed making post-release changes to Stranger Things. The report describes one continuity correction prompted by a character’s forgotten birthday, along with other changes that included visual-effects work and adjustments to moments in the then-recent season. These details come from the report of the brothers’ remarks; no Netflix change log or independent inspection of episode files is established by that account. Read the Futurism report.
The brothers described some alterations as “George Lucas’d” changes that viewers might not know about. They also said, “It’s not, like, story, but you’re essentially patching in shots.” In context, the remarks concern edits such as visual-effects work, not a claim that the show’s story was being rewritten wholesale. Futurism’s account of the comments.
Does this mean Netflix lets anyone edit a released show?
No. The story concerns changes attributed to the show’s creators after release. It is not evidence of a viewer-facing editing tool, nor does it establish a general Netflix policy for changing released programs. The available account does not specify how often such changes happen across Netflix, what version history is available to subscribers, or whether episodes were changed again after the reported example.

- Find the episode or title and use the hide control beside it. Netflix says you can also hide an entire series when that option is shown.
Netflix says a hidden title will no longer appear as watched, will not be used for recommendations unless you watch it again, and will be removed from Continue Watching. The change can take up to 24 hours to reach all devices. Netflix also says titles cannot be hidden from the Viewing activity page for a Kids profile. Netflix Help Center guidance.

Netflix says a profile’s Viewing activity lists watched shows and movies. You can expand the list with Show More and download the activity in a spreadsheet-compatible format. Deleting a profile deletes that profile’s viewing history and game saves, so it is a broader action than hiding one title.
