Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has grossed $598,767,057 worldwide, a substantial theatrical milestone. But that figure does not establish whether the film made a profit: Box Office Mojo lists a $350 million production budget, while public figures cited here do not account for marketing, distribution, financing, or the studio’s final accounting.
How much did The Final Reckoning gross?
Box Office Mojo lists the film’s worldwide theatrical gross at $598,767,057, split between $197,413,515 domestic (33%) and $401,353,542 international (67%). These are ticket-sales grosses, not the amount the distributor retained. The figures are from Box Office Mojo’s listing, accessed October 8, 2026. See the film’s Box Office Mojo listing.
The same listing gives a May 23, 2025 domestic release date, a PG-13 rating, and a runtime of 2 hours 49 minutes.
Does that make the film profitable?
Not by itself. Box Office Mojo lists a $350,000,000 production budget, but that is a database-listed figure—not a studio-confirmed final cost or a break-even threshold. Comparing that budget directly with the worldwide gross leaves out costs and revenue flows that determine a film’s financial result.

- Hunt and the IMF pursue a dangerous AI called the Entity that's infiltrated global intelligence.
- Theatrical revenue splits: Ticket sales are shared with cinemas; the worldwide gross is not the distributor’s take.
- Other costs: Marketing, distribution, and financing costs are not established by the cited public figures.
- Other revenue: Ancillary income may matter, but the sources cited here do not quantify it for this film.
- Final accounting: No independently verified studio profit-or-loss figure or break-even calculation is established in the sources cited here.
So the defensible conclusion is narrower than either “hit” or “flop”: the film generated a large worldwide theatrical gross, but public gross and budget figures alone do not show whether it ultimately made or lost money.
What the IMAX opening record does—and does not—show
IMAX Corporation reported $31 million in global IMAX box office through Monday, May 26, 2025, calling it the franchise’s largest IMAX global opening. The company also said IMAX accounted for 14.2% of worldwide opening-period box office from fewer than 900 screens. These are opening-period figures, not lifetime totals. IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond praised the film’s action and said audiences wanted to experience it “in the most immersive way possible.” That is a promotional statement from the company, not independent audience research or evidence of overall profitability.
How it compares with the previous installment
The Associated Press reported in May 2025 that the previous installment, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, ultimately grossed $571.1 million worldwide. The AP also characterized production budgets for these franchise films as close to $300 million. That approximate, pre-release context is not a verified budget or profit calculation for The Final Reckoning, and the prior film’s gross should not be confused with this film’s total. Where can you watch it at home?
Paramount Movies’ indexed listing identifies DVD, Blu-ray, and streaming formats, but the page currently redirects to Paramount’s general site. Paramount said in February 2024 that Paramount+ was the streaming home to the franchise’s then-seven films; that dated statement does not confirm that The Final Reckoning is currently available there.
