Paramount+ canceled the show after two seasons in January 2025, and CBS Studios said it would look for another platform. Neither a completed sale nor a new season has been confirmed by the sources reporting those developments.
What did Kelsey Grammer say about buying Frasier?
A December 10, 2025 story attributed to CBR and indexed by IMDb reported that Grammer discussed having money and potential backers lined up and entertained the idea of buying the revival from Paramount+. The accessible excerpt is incomplete: it does not establish a signed deal, a transfer of rights, or a new home for the series. It also does not provide a complete direct quotation, so the partial phrase exposed by the index should not be treated as a full quote.
That makes “wants to buy” a report of a possibility Grammer discussed—not evidence that he bought the show. The acquisition claim rests on the incomplete indexed excerpt; the cancellation and plans to shop the series were reported contemporaneously by Variety and TVLine.
Why was the revival available to shop?
Paramount+ canceled the revival after two seasons in January 2025. Variety reported on January 18 that CBS Studios planned to shop the series to other platforms after it stopped moving forward at Paramount+. Variety also identified CBS Studios as the producer and Paramount Global Content Distribution as the distributor outside Paramount+ markets. The report did not name a buyer.

TVLine reported the cancellation and the plan to shop the series elsewhere on January 17, 2025. Those reports establish an effort to find another platform, not that a platform agreed to take it on. No competing buyer or confirmed pickup is identified in the available reporting.
Is the Frasier revival coming back?
There is no confirmed new season in the reporting described here. In March 2025, Grammer expressed hope that the show would find a home, telling TVLine: “We’ll end up somewhere where people are passionate about it. Listen, it’s got a huge audience, a big following, and if people know where to find it, I think they will.” That was an expression of optimism, not an announcement of a deal or season order.

Grammer had also discussed the possibility of a third season and the idea of a Ted Danson appearance. Those comments were aspirations, not a greenlight. Earlier, he told Variety: “There’s enough groundwork laid between these human beings; they are wonderful characters. I want to see where they go. And I want to see what happens to Frasier.”
What is the revival, and how does it relate to the original?
The revival continued the story of Frasier Crane, with Kelsey Grammer returning to the role. It followed the original sitcom, which ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004 and won 37 Primetime Emmy Awards, according to Variety. Those figures describe the original series, not the revival; the cited coverage does not provide a comparable verified audience figure for the revival.
