What health problems did Cynthia Blaise reportedly describe?
On March 1, 2017, TMZ reported that legal documents it obtained said Blaise was experiencing severe depression, anxiety, hair loss, weight loss and PTSD. The report also said she claimed to have taken five medications since the divorce filing in 2015. These are claims attributed to Blaise through TMZ’s account of the documents; the report does not independently confirm diagnoses or medication use. TMZ’s March 2017 report.

TMZ also attributed financial and work-related claims to Blaise. Those claims do not establish the medical cause of the symptoms and are not needed to determine whether the divorce was proven to have caused them.
What is known about the divorce timeline?
- UPI reported that Key and Blaise married in 1998 and separated in November 2015. UPI’s January 8, 2016 report.
- UPI reported that Key filed for divorce on December 31, 2015, citing “irreconcilable differences.” That was the filing reason reported by UPI, not a full account of why the marriage ended. UPI’s filing report.
- In November 2017, TMZ reported that the divorce had been finalized and described support and asset-division terms from documents it said it obtained. Those were reported as terms at the time, not evidence about current financial arrangements. TMZ’s November 2017 report.
Does the evidence show the divorce caused the reported problems?
No. The public reporting establishes only that Blaise was reported to have described health problems during the divorce proceedings. It does not establish an independently confirmed diagnosis or a medical finding linking those problems to the divorce. The filing date and the reported symptoms’ timing are not, by themselves, proof of causation.

The cited coverage contains no public clinical records, treating clinician’s statement, independent medical assessment or court finding establishing that the divorce caused a condition. It also does not provide a direct interview with Blaise or Key about the reported symptoms. Accordingly, it would be inaccurate to state that the divorce caused severe health issues.
