No—Ice-T did not leave Law & Order: Special Victims Unit after 25 years. He remained a Season 27 cast member as Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, though his appearances were reduced. Ice-T said the season’s workload was being split with returning cast member Kelli Giddish, and that he was told Fin’s storyline was an arc, not a write-out.
Is Ice-T still on SVU in Season 27?
Yes. Peacock’s Season 27 guide, published September 17, 2025, lists Ice-T as a main cast member playing Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola. The official cast listing establishes that Fin remained part of the season; it does not establish how many episodes Ice-T appeared in.

Why was Fin missing from some episodes?
In a TV Insider interview published January 7, 2026, Ice-T said production planned to split the season’s workload between him and Kelli Giddish, who returned as Sergeant Amanda Rollins. He said he was comfortable getting time off. That is Ice-T’s account of the arrangement; it does not establish a budget cut or another behind-the-scenes explanation.
Ice-T also said he wondered whether the story meant he was being written out. He reported that he was told, “No, Ice, this is just a curve. This is an arc.” His concern and the response he described are not confirmation that Fin was departing.

Was Ice-T written out of the show?
No departure was confirmed in the Season 27 material cited here. The distinction is straightforward: Fin’s reduced presence in some episodes is real, but Ice-T remained listed as a main cast member, and he described the storyline as an arc. Peacock’s official series page lists Season 27 episodes, but it does not provide a complete episode-by-episode count of Ice-T’s appearances.
The “25 years” framing is rounded, not a precise tenure calculation. In the same January 2026 interview, Ice-T said of his working relationship with Mariska Hargitay, “That’s the longest relationship I’ve had with anybody, day to day, in my life,” and described it as 27 years. That is his account of their working relationship, not an independently audited count of seasons or episodes.
