That confirms a leak occurred; it does not authenticate every clip, repost, or file circulating online. Nor does it mean a genuine full-game download is available: one widely discussed 113GB ISO was reported as fake and malware-bearing.
Did GTA 6 gameplay videos really leak?
Rockstar Games confirmed that gameplay videos had leaked over the preceding week. In a statement reproduced by Gematsu on August 26, 2026, the company said the leak was heartbreaking for its team and “not how we intended for you to see the game.”
The reporting unfolded in two stages. On August 21, Axios reported that an account using the handle LEEK had shared at least six clips that seemed to show GTA VI gameplay. Axios noted then that Rockstar had not officially confirmed the footage. Rockstar’s later statement acknowledged leaked gameplay videos generally, but it did not certify the source or authenticity of each individual clip.
Are all the clips and files being shared genuine?
No such conclusion follows from Rockstar’s acknowledgment. A real leak event and the provenance of a particular repost, claimed game build, map, or download are separate questions. The available reporting establishes that gameplay videos leaked; it does not verify every item now presented online as leaked GTA VI material.

A file’s size or the confidence of a social-media post is not proof that it is an authentic game build. Treat claims about individual files cautiously, and do not use leaked-content links or downloads to try to verify them.
Can you download GTA 6 early?
There is no basis in the cited reporting to treat a purported full-game download as genuine or safe. Tom’s Hardware reported on August 23, 2026, that a purported 113GB GTA VI ISO was circulating. The outlet attributed claims that it was fake and contained malware—including alleged antivirus-disabling behavior—to social-media users who analyzed it. Those are reported findings about that purported file, not an independent audit of every file online.

The 113GB figure is a claim about the purported ISO, not an official game-size specification. Avoid downloading or running files advertised as leaked GTA VI builds; the reporting offers no reason to regard them as legitimate early access.

Take-Two Interactive’s June 24, 2026 announcement lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a launch date of November 19, 2026. These are the platforms and date in that official announcement.

The same announcement says the announced physical package contains a download code inside the box. It is not described as a disc edition. Rockstar also said its extended look was planned for August 27, 2026; that date has passed, so it should not be read as an upcoming event.
