No confirmed Netflix release date for Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma season 5 is established. The April 2020 streaming debut announced at the time was for Crunchyroll, not Netflix. The season is also known as Food Wars! The Fifth Plate.
Was Food Wars! season 5 released on Netflix in April 2020?
There is no source-confirmed Netflix launch in April 2020 for season 5. Netflix’s official series page identifies the show but does not establish when, or whether, The Fifth Plate was added. Catalogs also vary by country and change over time, so an old release announcement cannot confirm current local availability.

When did The Fifth Plate come out?
Crunchyroll announced on March 20, 2020, that The Fifth Plate would debut for its members in April. Its announcement named territories across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS. That was an announced streaming plan, not proof of Netflix carriage or a guarantee that the season became available in every listed territory as scheduled. See Crunchyroll’s announcement.
A Prime Video season listing labels the show season 5, lists 13 episodes, and dates episode 1, “Final Exams,” to April 10, 2020. This is a platform listing, not a worldwide streaming date: Prime Video’s listing.

Why was the season’s broadcast interrupted?
On April 17, 2020, Crunchyroll reported that new Japanese broadcast episodes would be delayed starting the following week. The report said the schedule would be updated after May 15, explaining why the initial broadcast did not continue on an uninterrupted weekly schedule. This broadcast disruption is separate from the question of Netflix availability. Read Crunchyroll’s report.
