They do not establish an illness, diagnosis, implicated fish, or cause, so the title’s premise should be treated as unverified.
What the available sources say
- National Geographic’s episode listing identifies Wicked Tuna and provides episode descriptions and air dates, but does not substantiate a fish-poisoning incident involving Dave.
- Apple TV’s description of “Point Break,” season 7, episode 12, dated May 27, 2018, says Captain Dave Marciano reaches his breaking point after weeks of bad luck and few fish. It does not mention fish poisoning.
- A TV Tango interview published April 1, 2012, identifies Marciano as captain of the F/V Hard Merchandise and discusses his fishing work and the sinking of his original boat in 2004. It does not report fish poisoning.
- The Wicked Tuna: Reel Talk companion podcast listing describes captain interviews and behind-the-scenes stories, including Marciano, but its surfaced description does not establish a poisoning event.
What remains unverified
These sources do not confirm whether the question refers to Dave Marciano or another cast member, whether anyone became ill, or whether a medical diagnosis was made. They also do not identify a fish, toxin, or exposure. Naming a cause would be speculation.

The absence of confirmation in these particular listings and accounts does not prove that no report exists elsewhere. To establish an incident, a reliable account would need to identify the person and event; a direct statement or episode record would be stronger evidence than an unsourced retelling. Any explanation should be limited to what that evidence says.
