JustWatch reported a high U.S. chart position based on user activity, not confirmed viewing, while Snake Eyes did not appear in Nielsen’s U.S. movie Top 10 for September 14–20, 2026.
What the conspiracy theory says about Snake Eyes
After Charlie Kirk was killed on September 10, 2025, social media posts drew comparisons to Snake Eyes, Brian De Palma’s 1998 thriller starring Nicolas Cage as detective Ricky Santoro. In the film, Santoro witnesses the assassination of U.S. Secretary of Defense Charles Kirkland at a boxing event. The theory pointed to Kirkland’s name and neck wound, and compared boxer Lincoln Tyler with Tyler Robinson, the man accused in Kirk’s killing. Know Your Meme traces early posts to Reddit that September and later spread on X and TikTok (Know Your Meme).

Those are perceived parallels, not evidence that the film predicted the killing. One widely repeated detail is also incorrect: the sign in the film gives the date as September 19, not September 10. The story depicts an assassination at a boxing match; Kirk was killed at a university event. A fact-check found no evidence that Snake Eyes foretold or influenced the crime (MEAWW).
What the streaming charts actually show
There is evidence of interest in the title, but the chart figures need to be read according to what each service measures.

The JustWatch snapshot does not date the days when the film reached its reported U.S. peak, or link that activity to the conspiracy posts. Nielsen’s cited week offers a different measure and reporting window. Taken together, the figures support renewed platform interest, not a verified theory-driven streaming surge or a measured hit.
Where the film was available in the U.S.
In its September 3, 2026 U.S. listing, JustWatch showed streaming on MGM Plus and MGM Plus Roku Premium Channel, and free streaming through Hoopla. It also listed digital rental and purchase options, including Amazon Video, and DVD/Blu-ray options including Amazon DVD/Blu-ray. Catalogs change, so check the current listing and your region before choosing a service or format (JustWatch U.S.).

Why the theory may keep circulating
The story fits a broader pattern of conspiracy theories surrounding Kirk’s killing, but that context does not verify the film comparison. In a September 10, 2026 WIRED report, Jared Holt, senior researcher at Open Measures, said: “There’s no reason to believe conspiracy theories about Kirk’s murder will lose steam anytime soon.” He also said he expected them to escalate as the criminal trial against Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk, played out. Those are Holt’s assessments, as reported by WIRED, not measured forecasts.
